Synchronize Folder Behavior
Hello Fellow C1 Devotees
I have upgraded to the latest version and am experiencing some unexpected behavior with the "Synchronize Folder" option.
In the past, if I have a folder already added to C1 and I add more images to that same folder later, Synchronizing would find and important the new images and remove any that might have been deleted.
Since the upgrade this has not been working. If I add new image to an existing folder and Synchronize, I get the import dialogue recognizing there are images to import and add but the images never get added. The only way I can update the folder is to remove it from C1 and re-import the folder as new. This is a bad option as I lose my settings for the images in that folder. The other option would be to select the newly added images and import those specifically to C1, but this is less than efficient.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for the advice
Troy

Have you tried, after synchronising the folder, moving away from it in Capture One (e.g., to another folder or collection) and then highlighting it again? I seem to recall that I had to do this in order to see new imports after using the "synchronize" function (in Capture One 11).

Similar behaviour her, reported as a bug and acknowledged by PhaseOne.
There is a workaround, at least for my system:
If I disable "show importer" it works, at least sometimes. However it does not work a second time on the same folder without closing the catalog in-between.

I've got the same behavior, and yes, Phase One acknowledged it as a bug. I'm hoping it's fixed in the next release.
What works for me:
- If the first Sync operation fails (it does work every once in a while, though!), try again. I just right-click on the folder and select Sync. Sometimes it takes 3 tries, but it always works eventually.
- I always show the Activity window (never the Importer) and watch to be sure the appropriate files are added/removed. Often, C1 indicates that the files have been identified, but doesn't add/remove. Selecting Sync again works properly.
- Be patient with the Sync operation. For some reason, it can take a long time for C1 to identify which files need to be added/removed. And then it can take a long time to actually sync. Watch the Activity window for progress.0 -
Thanks for the feedback. It does eventually work after trying a few times. Rather annoying to be sure especially for a feature I rely heavily on.
Looking forward to a fix. "Hint Hint at PhaseOne"

Troy,
Create a Support Case and add your name to the count of people who find this frustrating. That will help the development team to identify which problems (apart from any obvious major total failures compared to design intent) are of most concern to users and so help to prioritise the order in which they are addressed.
I would presume that this is especially true for the sorts of problems, like this one, that are sometimes erratic or maybe for some people work all the time first time and so are not so easy to diagnose.
HTH.

...And if you create a support case, be sure to include the log file; that will save you a little work. (Voice of experience: I've already filed a request and Support asked for the files). 0 -
Got it! Good advice. Thx 0 -
You can get it to work if you manually select all the images, either with a select all, or shift+click, the first time the importer dialog shows up. 0
