Changing date in metadata

Is there a simple way to do a batch change of the capture year in the metadata file? I accidentally had the wrong year in a series of photos. Its not a fatal error, but I would like to keep my files correct.

  You may use an exif editor such as exiftool, which is a free command-line application or ExifChanger, based on exiftool but with an easier to use interface.
  Exif Editor will do as well.
