Capture one for NIKON - Images from iPhone?
-
As far as I know, the camera-specific part is relevant for developing images from raw files. My guess is that common cooked formats, non-raw (jpg, tiff,...) are ok. Dng should also work, but then dng-files are sometimes raw, sometimes cooked so who knows.
For all I know, "iPhone" is also a raw format, you id not state the image file format. I believe C1 works with jpg-images from any source, including iPhone. Note that C1 has pixel count limits (min/max). Make sure JPG is enabled in Preferences if that is relevant for non-pro incarnations of C1.
If C1 for Nikon has a trial period, you may download, install and check it out before you buy.

Thank you! I did not see the trial for Nikon so I downloaded the generic one I guess... any other opinion / who knows definitely probably?

I never used C1 Express or C1 for Camera X, so I may well be wrong here, but I would expect that you can download C1 for Nikon trial version from the above link. You will probably have to sign in and perhaps receive a trial license code.

The mode in which the software runs is controlled by the License activation code.
The software download is the same for all listed Capture one versions for public consumption.
Are your iphone images jpg?

C1 does not currently, afaik, support HEIC/HEIF files.
Presumably, at some point in the future, it might. Probably will. For example the Canon 1DX3 offers HEIF or jpg files as well as RAW.
However last time I looked I could not find any discussion of mention of the HEIF opportunity compared to jpg. Indeed the jpg functionality (specifically?) has had some attention from Canon as far as that camera is concerned and produced some exceptionally nice results on a couple of test image I looked at. Better than I could get readily from the only 1DX3 RAW conversion equipped software I had available at the time (not C1).
It makes me wonder how quickly HEIF will be taken up by enough manufacturers to drive the pace of introduction for photo editing software.

It is already supported by most photo editing software. Capture One is an outlier in its inability to process HEIC/HEIF files. There are ongoing comments in the FAQ question on this topic ==> https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003404558-Is-HEIC-HEIF-format-supported-by-Capture-One-
and many have requested support as a new feature. Only Capture One knows if and when support will be added. My hope is that the Canon R5/R6 support will prod Capture One to support it faster.
