Usually it take almost two weeks for an update.  The same thing happened to the EOS R when it was released.

Adobe have a dng converter that works very well and it is compatible with the r5

Left Adobe about a year ago. Only Capture One and Affinity Photo for me. Lol... No biggy; I’ll await (almost) patiently. 👍

Doren, but the Adobe Dng Converter is free and anyone can download it and use it. I have and I have no other adobe products.

    Kevin,

Ah, gotcha. I'm still not partial to DNGs, to be frank. Why? Because every time I edit them in C1 it always feels ... um, not quite the same as the original RAWs. A while back and did comparisons and whatnot and I just didn't like working with them in C1. Maybe with recent updates things have changed, so maybe I'll give it a go.

For now, I'm just using Canon's DPP to look and judge the files, yet not edit them at all.

But maybe my warped stubbornness needs to take seat. LOL

    Doren,

I did some testing myself converting my Nikon Z6 raw files and that is the only reason I know about the DNG convertor. I seem to remember that they made very large files. BTW, right after all of my evaluation and testing I switched to C1. I never used adobe anything. There are a few things I would love to have in C1, but I can live without them for now. The initial editing in C1 flows quickly for me and I love the way you can use the brush to add subtle masking on a layer with the flow control. I almost never need a well defined mask now.

I agree. I used Lightroom for over five years, but C1, for me, blows it away. Plus I tether a lot. I don’t even think I’m really missing anything in C1 that I’d like them to add. What would you like to see?

Yeah, I might go the route of DNG conversion for now, just for funsies. Plus, Canon’s DPP is terrible. LOL

I would love to be able to put images on layers for blending. Even the same image with would be good, with the standard blending options. It would give me more artistic tools right in the workflow.

That would be nice indeed. I just go into Affinity Photo for that stuff (I do lots of composites). But I get ya. 👍

That funny, I also purchased Affinity Photo for that and channel swapping. But I have not spent any time trying to learn how to use it yet. :)

I took a month and learned Affinity Photo from top to bottom. Amazing program. I don’t miss Photoshop at all. 😎

Dear Capture One Team, please can you add this support. I’m ready to get going and use the R5 professionally tethered. Also I’m interested to see if I can send files over wirelessly?! Anyone else had experience with this?

For those of us waiting patiently for the support of R5 RAw files, It is possible to use the just-released beta DNG converter from the other company on the R5 CR3 RAW file.  Then continue the Capture one workflow with the DNG file.    Also, Canons Digital Photo Professional utility (4.12.60.0)  is able to convert to TIF.  The TIF can then be recognized by Capture One.

Been doing just that. But I hate working with DNGs. I never feel Like they edit wel within C1. I’m doing it like this for now as I’m practicing with the new R5. And Canon’s DPP software I hate working with. Anyhow, working with DNGs for now as I wait for C1. 🤗👍📸

The silence from the Capture One staff in regards to this matter is deafening. For an organisation which prides itself on being a market leader they are doing a very poor job of delivering support to existing customers who were always going to be purchasing a much anticipated piece of hardware. I understand there are complications with compatibility when a new camera is introduced to the industry, but to just ignore and not communicate to us the issues and timeline is insulting. The 3rd party work arounds are not an acceptable option for professionals who need to continue their workflow with a new camera.

Note:  It had taken 2 weeks for Capture One and Adobe Lightroom to update the raw files when the EOS R and the RP was released.  I am sure they will have it we just have to be patient.  I've done a photoshoot with the EOS R5 and I had used Adobe .dng converter to edit in capture one and it had done a great job so far.
