Reimport changed TIFF files

I would guess you scanned in 8 or 16 bit greyscale.  You need an application that will convert to 24 or 48 bit RGB. Such an application will simply make 3 copies of the 8 or 16 bit original and label them as R, G, and B channels (that was a gross oversimplification but you get the idea).  I will get back to you later with a link to a Windows program that does this, I am sure that someone will leap in with a link to a Mac app that you require.

Dave, thank you for your answer. I converted the images. So that part is ok.

My actual problem is update C1. The update at file level is not reflected in C1. Except for removing the image from the catalog and then reimporting it, I didn't find a better way to update the information from the file in C1.

I have just realised that when I had the same problem I used Image/Edit With/Adobe photoshop, I can't remember what I did in photoshop but I have just discovered that the second copy that capture one generates if you set (in my case) Format Tiff, 16bit, uncompressed, Adobe RGB is immediately editable in Capture One - all the tone control sliders etc can be used to process the second Tiff which is 3 times the size of the original. The problem is of course that photoshop opens and has to be closed when you use Edit With.  So obviously Capture One is quite capable of converting a greyscale image to RGB internally but it is not obvious how you do it other than by the method I mentioned above.

BTW you don't have to use photoshop as the Edit With target any old app will do, Image Devices Control Panel is an option on my machine, I don't know what it is and don't have it so its just an info window that pops up that can be deleted immediately.
