Problems, problems, problems all day long with 20
Drag and Drop nightmare: Drag and Drop has always had bizarre behavior in C1, but this version is completely whacked. I made a request so many times to make dragging out of the browser window onto the Mac desktop a simple, one-off variant export, rather than exporting the original. If you're dragging a variant you expect to drop a variant. Duh. But instead of going that direction, now we don't get an export at all – now we're actually moving the file out of the catalog!!! What??? Then, guess what, you can't move it back in. Dragging from either the desktop or within the file structure of C1 will bring up the move warning, but nothing is moved. Ugh.
SLOOOOOOOOOOOOW: Constant beach balling, stuttering when scrolling in the browser, even after all previews have loaded (which takes FOREVER and often seems to just start over from scratch without warning). Elementary stuff. I see "proxy creation failed" in the log. Ok, so fix that please.
Can't Quit: Capture One 20 won't allow me to quit. I can close the catalog, with no processes running, but Quit is greyed out in the menu. Command-Q does nothing and quitting from the dock has no effect either. Have to force quit.
This version is STILL so buggy. How long since first release now? Feels like it's still it beta.

I'm not being able to start a new session and my Sony camera is not being recognized. I'm using an iMac 5k 2017

Rob,
I understand you like to vent your frustration. I won't address that. Now for some facts.
Drag and Drop. Just leave it and do a feature request. It does not make sense to frustrate yourself.
Slow performance. Your description is an out-of-band, untypical performance. Performance issues are often hard to diagnose and support via a forum. We, the other users, are here to help, but you might open a support case for this. If you like to share it with us, give as many details about your setup. See also my next comment.
Can't quit. Either your Capture One setup is screwed (typically the preference or plist file) or your user profile on your Mac is polluted. I suggest you remove the Capture One preference file or do un entire uninstall-install sequence (instructions at the support page). Also, test with a new catalog. If that works, verify your current catalog.

Paul, where in your comments are “facts”? Sounds like your opinion to me. In case you missed it, I explained that I’ve done feature requests for years. Are you suggesting the inability to move a file back into the catalog from within C1 is a feature, not a bug?
Lots of people are complaining about performance issues. Nice try blaming the user.
Don’t come here trying to exonerate Capture One for the worst release ever. It’s documented. Still buggy as hell 6 months later.

Also, why does my profile show my name one day, and firstname lastname the next? Is that a feature too, or is it my fault?
I think the sophomores took over the company.

Paul also gave you hints and offered help if you share more details, but you don´t see that. So my question: What do you want to achieve with your posts?

Sorry buddy, I'm not doing this. If you want to be a fan boy and make excuses for a a buggy release that's still unusable six months in, just steer clear of my posts. My purpose here is to make people aware of problems. Capture One folks used to monitor these forums. They'd be wise to continue doing so.
I'm perfectly capable of "just leave it" and "trash preferences" type solutions myself. "Your user profile on your Mac is polluted"?That's not my idea of a "tip". I'm a high level computer technician and my User profile (whatever that means) is just fine. Version 20 is not ready for prime time and didn't pay money to be a beta tester. This is my post, I'll call it how I see it.

Ah look, my name is back. I guess somebody trashed their preferences file.

I understand, you want to 'warn' others that some users might have problems with the software. that's ok but at least try to be sufficiently polite towards others users here. you haven't demontrated this to neither Paul nor me.
If you want to be a troll then be it, we now know what you're attitude is. Good to know your name now.

... my User profile (whatever that means) is just fine.
It is a common troubleshooting step in the Mac world to create a new user and run the application giving you problems as the new user. This is not a Capture One thing, but pertains to any and all applications. It is also not uncommon to find that issues that exist when running as your primary user goes away when running as the newly created user. That is what people mean when they say things like "Your user profile on your Mac is polluted". It is not quite an accurate statement but it describes the symptom well.
The problem is that knowing this doesn't really help save to offer a workaround. The issue could be caused by a bug in the application, or a bug in Apple's macOS system libraries. It may be due to an earlier bug that has since been fixed, but left unreliable data somewhere in the Application Support files. It is quite frustrating when this happens. I don't know of any good solutions to the issue. It isn't always something the application can control.

Thanks Marco, I'm aware of that troubleshooting step. I'm actually running a very new installation, and I regularly rotate startup disks and do a meticulous of maintaining my setup. I have a test account that I run bare bones for my own troubleshooting. I was questioning his use of the word "Profile" as I (and the rest of the Mac world) would call it a user account.
Anyway the quitting problem is intermittent and I have no problems with any other application, so I'm pretty sure it's a C1 bug. It acts as if there's a dialog box open that needs a response, but nothing's there. Thanks for your input.

BeO, no offense meant, and I'm perfectly happy to be polite to folks who don't jump around post to post trying to blame the user for problems when an application is as bugging as 20 is. It's pretty comical that Paul told me to just "leave it" and don't "frustrate myself". How apologist can a person be. I'm not into giving concessions to paid software. Capture One has a responsibility to get their act together for people who have invested in the platform. If I wanted buggy apps with no accountability I would have gone with Adobe.
I'm pretty confident that anyone who has made it this far, tolerating the horrible minature white-text-on-black-background graphic design faux pas of this new forum and bothering to take their time to report yet another problem with version 13 (or is it version 20?), they will fully understand my frustrated tone and likewise not find much comfort in "trash your preferences" tips.
I look forward to the more seasoned minds at Phase One whipping the sophomores into shape. One accurate move they made was taking "Pro" out of the name. I guess they're following Apple's lead there.

My most annoying bug is a crash in COPluginHost. It is not reproducible on demand, but when it happens it will happen many times in a short period of time. I think I have 32 crash logs from my last two editing sessions. The problem has been reported and support says they passed it on to the appropriate developer.
I've not seen anyone else mention this. It may be something do do with my operating environment. As a result I don't expect a resolution soon. I'm lucky in that the impact of the bug is minor: the crash notification blocks some buttons such that I have to wait for it to go away if I want to use any of those buttons. Also, sometimes I have to restart Capture One so the Open With field of some of my process recipes is properly populated.
So I live with it. And I wonder if I'll upgrade come the end of the year when new releases are typically made available. I still prefer Capture One to the competition, but do I prefer it enough to give them more money?

I haven’t come across that particular bug, but I just started using plugins for the first time the other day so I’ll let you know if I see it.

I need help with Capture One for Sony.
Im not being able to tether my Sony@7R3 or to create a new session. This software was just working fine before and now its not working properly. I'm running Capture one for Sony on my iMac 5K 2017. Can anyone help me or the creators of this software?

@ rob agree, in my view c20 was the worst release in the last years with much more bugs and issues than previous releases which did not really shine either, more an alpha than a beta. but the really sad things is that c1 has all kind of little issues and problems which are ignored since years which makes working with c1 more and more unpleasant.

Same problem here.
I opened a ticket on 17 July 2020 and support is trying to solve the issue but, so far, they are keeping asking logs and beside few total reinstall (that did not solved the issue) no clues at all.
macOS 10.14.6, CO 20 (13.1.2.37)
I only use sessions and actually it is not possible to quit the app if I work for few hours – the only way to quit is to force quit. hopefully this does not mean I risk to loose edits I made to the last few images...
In the last answer support told me it might be my system and not a bug, but now that I see I'm not alone I'm wondering how many other customers are facing the same issue...

Ugo, what’s your machine setup? I’m on a Mac Pro 4,1>5,1 48gb Nvme blade, Sapphire Pulse RX580, 10.14.6

Rob, Mac Mini, 16gb, plenty of hd space – my system is above the minimum requirements and I see you use a top system so it should not be an hardware issue.
Is support helping you or just like me I am placed "on-hold" until some R&D have time and willing to help?

Ugo, it took some persistence but I finally got a tech named Jack who was willing to dive in with me, after a reinstall (a ridiculously complex process requiring the user to go to the command line) didn’t work. He found several significant errors and asked me to reproduce several scenarios, make screen recordings and send more logs. Two days ago he said they found a bug and would fix it in an upcoming release.
I’m not holding my breath but I give him 5 stars for his effort and professionalism.
