Capture One sends diagnostic data on startup?

Could it be that it’s checking the license key or something like that? Haven’t got a clue as I never check the log files - basically why I switched from Windows to Mac 14 years ago :-)

I suggest you read the Capture One Software Licence Agreement which you implicitly agreed to when you bought the software, particularly sections 3.2 and 10.  You can find the software licence agreement under Help/Licence/View the software licence agreement.

That might be, but I would expect that Phase One clearly states, which data in transmitted.

I only checked because I wanted to debug a problem that annoys me for nearly a year and that Phase One could not resolve...

I am pretty sure, that I read the agreement when I first bought C1 some years ago. Maybe I overlooked this or they changed the agreement. If I had read ist, I very likly would not have bought Capture One.

But that doesn't matter, as it is, in my opinion, probably in violation to the GDPR, which came into effect in 2018. It contradicts the coupling prohibition, the information is not specific enough, there is no way to take back the consent without stopping to use C1 and the information is only available in English. It would also not fulfill German requirements for general standard terms and conditions.

But most importantly: I think, that this is just not the proper way to deal with paying customers.

Well, clearly they need to be able at the very least to check whether you have a current valid licence.

I am using a perpetual license, not a subscription, which requires validation when using C1. Therefore, I can start and use C1 20 without being connected to the internet. In fact, it would be pretty inconvenient to be unable to use the software if the internet connection were down. This is a disadvantage with the subscription version.

Assuming C1 tracks data when an internet connection is available, why not just turn off your connection to prevent this? Does C1 store the data and send it later when an internet connection is available? The privacy policy is not clear about what data is collected from use of the web site versus the software.
