C1 21 Very Slow
Just updated from 20 to 21 and things seem a lot slower. Double clicking to zoom, crop tool, among other things seem very slow compared to using 20 just yesterday. Any advice? Nothing has changed on my Mac Book Pro

+1 Exactly the same issue.
Running the latest and top spec iMac (10 Core i9, 64GB ram, 16GB GPU) and v21 is running considerably slower than v20. Moving from one image to another takes around 5-6sec to render the image clean and clear. Any adjustments restart that render.
v20 was running super smoothly

Yes, I for example tried increasing and decreasing exposure: in 21 with a lag, in 20 smooth and immediate. Really a nice upgrade :(

I noticed CO21 rebuilds all previews, at least in the session I was/am currently working on. Might that be the culprit? I always let CO do its thing while building previews; editing or browsing at the same time is really slow and sluggish. After 15 minutes of rebuilding, CO21 as at least as fast as CO20 on my 2017 MBP.

Emile. Funny you say that. I did a “regenerate previews” on the session after my edits. It considerably increased the speed of the system. Took 12mins to do mind you.
I always let C1 do the preview generation on import before doing anything. Feels like v21 doesn’t do a proper job on the import then.

Daniel, after reading your message I made another test on a copy of session with 60 RAWs and regenerated the previews. Now it's more laggy. Running a MacBook Pro with a second EIZO Monitor.
Switching to Version 20 everything runs fine.

Rolf. Not great to hear. Sounds like we’ve got more issues in there. I remember having these exact issues a few releases previously.
Time to submit tickets.

I indeed opened a new ticket becasue of the sluggish system compared to CO20.
For the moment I went back to CO20 to get some projects done.

Did the same.
And I am mad about me cause telling everybody who asks me for support: wait for the 1st patch better for the 2nd.

Same thing here.
2017 MacBook Pro i7, 16GB memory with Raedeon pro 560 4GB.
CO20 was running smoothly yesterday and still does today! I switched back to it since CO21 is unusable!
I also had to open a backed up version of my catalog because if saved in CO21, it can't be open in CO20!!!
Don't really know what to do....

Everyone running a Radeon GPU?

Capture One 20 was running excellently. Capture One 21 is as slow as a wet week. Very frustrating. I'm using a Mac Mini and Catalina. I've been holding off from updating to Big Sur in case of problems, but I wonder doing that might fix the speed problem? Trouble is, it might just lead to more problems!

Running a 'NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M'.
Deleted all data in 'Image Core' so that hardware acceleration was checked again. Nothing changed.
Biggest problem is cropping and paning.

Rolf, I agree with you there. Cropping is painfully slow.

Just to let you all know:
After opening a support ticket it was advised to me to install the update 14.0.1 which helped to get back to CO 20 speed again. I'm Happy. I even think overall performance is better than CO20.
Running on Big Sur Mac 0S 11.0.1 on a Mac Pro - 3 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon E5 - 16gb mem
What did I do:
I cleared out all old CO20 files exactly as they described on their website. Here is the link. It worked for me maybe it does for you as well.https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002402377-How-to-uninstall-Capture-One-

Capture One 21 now appears to be running smoothly on both my Mac Mini and Macbook Air. The solution was to delete Capture One altogether from both computers, upgrade from Catalina to Big Sur, and download and instal Capture One 21 on each machine. It seems as though version 21 just didn't want to work properly on my computers with Catalina.
However, judging from what other people have said, this method may not help everyone.

i still have the problem
win10
C1 V12 (14.0.1.5)
i already tryed to completely remove the old (and all olds) version of C1 following the guide posted abovethen i did a fresh installation of latest c1 (14.0.1.5)
when i delete a image (pressing delete on the keyboard) it took randomly from 1 second to 8-9 second to get the image deleted and thrown into the bin
i'm very unhappy

Yes, CO21 is insanely slow. It took me more than half an hour to make a simple import (1000 files) which is not acceptable when you pay such a price for a software

Not sure if this will help the issue anyone in this thread is experiencing, but I am using a mac and realized all of the images in a session were automatically populating as .eip files rather than .cr2
by selecting the images, then going to the Image menue at the top of the screen>unpack EIP, the files all converted to .cr2 and the speed increased drastically!!

I just installed Pro 21 yesterday and experienced problems with slow lag time when adjusting any slider. There was up to a 1s delay when adjusting any slider and the preview would blur during the slider adjustment. Though trial and error, I found two settings that significantly improved performance.
My setup:
Macbook Pro 2016 v11.6 Big Sur, i7 Quad Core, 16GB RAM, Radeon Pro 450 2GB
Capture One Pro 21 v14.4.1.16Settings Changes:
System Preferences -> Battery -> Battery
Deselect "Automatic Graphics Switching"Capture One Preferences -> General
Hardware Acceleration:
By default Processing is set to "Auto". I switched it to "Never"As a side note, installing Capture One completely screwed up my Affinity Photo to the point where it is unusable. Detailed in a separate post. CO is a great program but really disappointed having to spend an entire day troubleshooting these issues.

I have the same issue, but being on a desktop (M1 iMac 11.6) the battery settings won't help me. I followed the uninstall / reinstall directions posted above (but kept and reused my original catalog), to no avail. Loading an image, or moving adjustment sliders, results in a delay ranging from a couple seconds to several seconds.

Has anyone found any improvement with performance? I recently upgraded to a mac 24 (16gb RAM) capture one 21 and also version 22 run extremely slow. I've submitted requests to C1 but had very little help, their latest release notes say that if you're using a 4-5k monitor you need double the stated spec! Lr runs perfect on the machine. Really disappointed as I would like to switch over from Adobe but that's impossible with current performance.
