Capture One 21 selects all photos in folder for import

This is Capture One 21 on Big Sur 11

There is a new flow in Capture One 21 different from Capture One 20.  When I try to import a few photos from a folder the import window selects all the photos in the folder.

    There have been some improvements to the Import process as Indicated by the Release Notes.

     

    Improved Importer
    The Importer in Capture One 21 has several different improvements:

    • Picker functionality to easily make the import selection
    • Bigger import window with high-resolution thumbnails
    • Improved terminology and descriptions of import destinations in Catalogs
    • Option to select multiple folders to import from at the same time
    • Option to select images directly in the Folder Browser
    • First-time import requires fewer clicks

    The new built in help facilities should take you to useful links and perhaps a video or two that describe the revised options.

    Ahh thanks.  That confirms that something happens. It looks like they tried to add a feature and in the process broke a more basic feature.

    You used to be able to make the selection of files outside of Capture One, drag and drop them into Capture One and just import that selection.  This worked in Finder, Photo Mechanic, etc.

    Now the builtin "Picker functionality to easily make the import selection" seems to override any images that are sent to Capture One 21 from an outside source.

    FYI, I have the same issue and reported it to their support team.  Let's see what they say.

    Yes this is something important to me and it is frustrating to know that such a simple thing is removed. 

    I used to be able to just pick images i want in Photomechanic, and drag them directly , from wherever they are, into capture one catalog. 

    Now i need to copy them to a folder and direct Capture one to that folder during import. It is super troublesome. I will want to believe that it is a bug and not a feature removal.

    Hey John,

    Somehow I got it to work.  I think it started working after I upgraded to the latest version 10.0.2.49

    Try that and hopefully it fixes this bug.
