Nothing but a permanent beach ball when going from Capture One 20 to 21 on new Macbook M1

One issue that exists on M1 systems (as I have found) is that stability and performance is greatly increased by disabling Hardware Acceleration. If I have it enabled, shutting down C1 causes a crash.

Thanks. But how can I turn that off if I cannot get C1 21 past the beach ball? It's a brand-new Apple M1 with almost nothing loaded on it.

There is a post on support regarding M1 support:

You can try using Rosetta 2.

Thank you. I have Rosetta, can't get 21 to work.

Did you try to start with "option" key pressed and to create a new catalog, just to be sure that it is not an issue with the existing catalog or session?

I think you may need to delete all the preference files, as such make sure you have backed up your catalogues or sessions. It maybe best to remove C1 from your system and try again. To do this you will need a program like findanyfile for the MAC. If you need further details let me know and I'll make an extended post.

I had the same thing, but eventually it loaded the images. I'm using the C21 pro version and found out that when you start up C21 first and then choose the session or catalogue from the finder, it loads immediately. If you start C21 by selecting the session or catalogue from the finder, it takes ages before C21 starts.

Maarten, thanks for the idea, but I don't understand. From what I read in your post, you're recommending I click on the session in the Mac Finder, then let C21 autoload from there?

That's right, you start C21 by clicking on the xx.cosessiondb file. Btw there is a new version of C21 that may solve the problem afaik
