In fact, it says this in the release notes.

hm....so c1 thinks the best option should not be used or was finding a new name for brush presets absorbing all intellectual resources ?

but in fact this is not funny they should at least give a timeframe when they are able to add full support.

Well, I assume that if they could have added support for compressed RAW from the start, they would have. If the alternatives are providing some support as early as possible, or not providing any support at all until every option could be catered for, which would you rather have?

The camera has only become available in Europe, as far as I can see, this month. My preferred camera dealer can only offer the option of pre-ordering at the moment. So perhaps it is a bit early to complain about slow provision of support.

And it's not the first time that support for some extra formats that a camera can use has come later. If it is important to you to have Compressed RAW support quickly, you could say so in a support case - the more users ask for it, the more likely it is to be provided quickly.

Their habit in the past has been to never announce in advance when new features will be added, although they seem to be changing that a bit recently.

And Style Brushes seem to be rather more than a new name for brush presets. Many users seem to be finding them extremely useful already. (I haven't myself used them extensively yet.)

hey Ian, great that you always find explantions why bad support is better than a good a one !

"And Style Brushes seem to be rather more than a new name for brush presets"

haha, sure when you believe in the c1 fairy....   but wait arc/lr has presets for all tools and this for a very long time but I´m sure as c1 does not have this option is not really useful or need for user who unleash the power of their images....

No, they should not. They never have, and there's nothing so special about A1 users that they warrant special treatment.

Your sense of entitlement is not well-founded.

    @CSP

    1. I responded to Nick Collins's original post with a link to the release notes in the hope that this would be helpful information.
    2. You then voiced a complaint about full support not being available with no indication of when it would be. And you had a dig at the new style brushes which, in your opinion (which you are of course entitled to) are less important than full support for the A1.
    3. I pointed out that it is not the first time that support for some compressed formats has been added later. Also that the camera, though released, is not readily available yet. (I couldn't obtain one if I wanted, as far as I can see, though I am not in the market for one: I don't know whether you are. Presumably Nick Collins is fortunate enough to have been able to buy one already.) We know that Capture One base their profiles and support on actually obtaining and testing new cameras - whether they have been able to get an A1 for that purpose, and when, I do not know.
    4. If you don't think the style brushes are worth much, then you are free to think that. Discussion of it doesn't much help the original poster with factual information related to his original post.
    5. I note with a little amusement that when I installed an update to Lightroom yesterday (which I have but don't much use) the newest version included support for the Sony A1 - after Capture One started supporting it (at least for some RAW formats). Though, to be fair, as far as I can see, LR doesn't have limitations for the compressed formats.

I really don't know in what world you guys are living, in my world and in those of my clients manufacturing products it is totally normal than when something is not finished on delivery to give their customer a timeframe when the missing part is expected to ship. this is nothing special this simply normal behaviour when you respect your customer !

loseless compressed raw was one of the most wanted improvements in the sony world so one might think that a company not only selling a special sony version which is also never shy pointing out their superiority get it right ?

I pointed the brush presets out or if you prefer the marketing speech "style brushes" because it shows how insane their priorities are, it took them btw 15 years to copy a adobe feature nobody obviously missed.

so knowing the release note solves the problem ?  seems the op already found out by himself what a looser company c1 has become.

By definition, CO and Lightroom and PhotoShop and Affinity Photo and pick any other piece of photo software are perpetually in development. At what time would Capture One be "finished"?

You're not helping anyone with this constant carping.

I guess what he means is, at least fixing broken functionalities, like keystone tool.

We should acknowledge the development of C1P, however also need to vocalize the missing or not getting fixed broken functions.

I see this as a general problem, software companies found a way to brush of any responsibility,  they are allowed to operate outside any established standard of consumer protection.  after signing the licence agreement we the user give up all rights, including the right to expect a working software ! more, it is even possible for them to advertise features which they are aware do not work, unthinkable in the world consumer products ! everything we can do is to hope for mercy but this is not how things should be as we pay them !
