CR3 files sent from friend with Capture One 20 are not recognised on my mac with Capture One 20
A friend took some photos at daughters wedding and sent me the CR3 files from his pc running Capture One 20 pro - these files are not recognised on my mac running Capture One 20 pro (I get a message to say C1 can't open these files but Affinity can - this is very frustrating - he also sent EIP files and my mac would not open these either - but the jpegs and tiff files sent at the same time open with no trouble). What do I have to do to open either of these file formats? (I can open sony files and the canon CR2 files - confused and frustrated with C1

Which camera was he using?
Do you have the same release level of V20 installed?

Canon R5, and yes the same Capture One version - so am bemused as to why Affinity will open the files with no issue and C1 can't find any image files

Specifically - are you on Capture One 20 release 13.1.2 or later?
Full sized R5 CR3 files work just fine with Capture One 20 release 13.1.4.3 here...
confused and frustrated with C1
User error, almost certainly.

version 13.1.0.172 - the only update available is 14 (and I thought that was Capture One 21!) - no other options available - where do I find a later version of Capture One 20 - my profile says no further updates!

Hi Dave,
You have to really search for it (they don't make it easy) but CO 20 Version 13.1.4 is available to download. Here's the link: https://www.captureone.com/en/account/download/previous
I don't know if the above link will work but log in, then go to "Download Capture One". It will show you a screen to download CO 21 but scroll down to where it says "Download the previous version of Capture One" and click on "Download". Then scroll down a bit and you should see "Capture One 20 (13.1.4)" and then just click on the Mac version and you're all set.
Hope this works for you. I have Capture One 20 Version 13.1.4.15 currently installed on my Mac and I understand this is the latest (and last) version of CO 20.

Thanks Garry - you are a star, that worked and I have managed to import the CR3 files - I would never have found the download link
Thank you very much

FOr anyone else landing here:
At the time of writing if one wishes to download Capture One log in to your C1 Account and hit the "Download" link that should appear as one of the options on the page.
The default Download link is always the most recent release of the current version.
Scroll the page up and you will find a link to "Download the Previous version of Capture One". It will the final release of that version.
If you are looking for an even earlier version, versions, scroll that page down for a list of available earlier versions.
If you need a specific release of a version that is NOT the final release of the version and is not visible as an option, then use the "Submit a request" feature on one of the Community pages to contact Capture One for personal assistance.
Should the arrangement change in the future this official link that describes the options available for both current and previous versions will likely be a good point of reference.
