Upgrade o V22
Just received an e-mail offering me a 20% discount on an upgrade from V21 to V22 of capture One when it is released in early December. Clicked through a little way and found the upgrade price is £199.00 (£159.00 with discount). I shall wait and see what offer is available on BlackFriday/Cyber Monday (usually 25 to 30%) or even until launch day when various discount codes appear on CO Ambassadors web sites.

Several ambassadors are offering codes now that give you an extra 10%. One of them says that Capture One have said there will be no better offers before launch.

I have purchased C1 on Sep-07 (first time), just a few weeks ago.
Do new customers also have to pay the full price?

Didn't I just fork out a lot of cash for an upgrade less than a year ago? V20 to V21? Upgrade affordability has quickly become a deterrent to advancing.

If it was the upgrade from 20 to 21 as soon as a similar offer was made, that would be have been almost exactly a year ago. The general pattern in recent years has been a new version towards the end of each calendar year. There is, of course, no need to upgrade if you don't have a compelling reason to do so, but with new features on offer, you may want to.

I went with this upgrade offer. I have CO20. It seems to deactivate your old license and you need to reactivate with the new code.
However, in the past if you had skipped a version, when you bought the early pre-order, it also allowed you to use the current version. That does not seem to be the case this time. I tried activating the current version of C021 and it did not work. Not a big deal as I'm okay waiting for C022, but it is a change.

My image library lives in Lightroom. However, I started using C1 heavily a year ago because of the better color rendition of the Canon R5 and the enhanced color selection tools. I have really enjoyed using C1, but Adobe has really upped the bar with their new Lightroom masking tools and new R5 color profiles. Adobe also now has built-in correction for many of the Canon RF lenses (including the 14-35 which distorts heavily prior to correction). Capture One has been really slow to come out with lens corrections for the RF glass.
Now I am considering updating C1 primarily to get another year of support (hopefully some new Canon RF lens profiles, but no guarantees) and the HD and Pano tools which are already part of Lightroom. I really like C1, but am having trouble seeing the value in upgrading. I have reprocessed some recent images in LR and with the new tools seem to be able to results that are comparable to C1. Curious to hear what others think.

Don't do the preupgrade yet. Doing so will bork your CaptureOne 21 license and you'll be unable to open Capture One. Many users are affected. I suspect PhaseOne will fix this eventually, but please wait for now.

Deactivate and reactivate with the new key if you bought the pre-issue version 22.
Better, if you don't need the new features right away, pass up the 20% discount and wait for the bigger price reduction that will probably occur next year as sales slow down.
