Cost to Upgrade from 20 to 22?

Once you buy 22 the key for 20 will stop working.  How you buy 22 won't make a difference.

I don't know if there are any discounts going from 20 to 22.   A new license for 22 is $299.   Or $179/year if you vuy an annual subscription.  Or $24/year if you buy a monthly subscription.   This  information comes from this page: https://www.captureone.com/en/products-plans/single-user/capture-one-pro and references the "pro" version.  The camera specific versions cost less.

Hi Marco, thanks for your reply. The reason for my post is because the website doesn't state an upgrade price (or I can't find it) to upgrade the perpetual license version from Pro 20 to Pro 22. I believe you have to enter your key and I'm concerned the website might proceed to disable my key when I only want to determine the upgrade price. If validating your key is required to determine an upgrade price but not proceed with upgrading, then why doesn't the website just say that?

I just thought someone who has already upgraded a perpetual pro license from 20 to 22 might like to pass along how much it costs or where I can find upgrade pricing.

Hi Garry, I also wondered why you would have to enter your key first and only then see the upgrade price. They should add text to clarify that you are NOT immediately upgraded after entering the key.

So, I did that and it only _shows_ you your price. Thinking about it, of course you would have to have an additional buying step to purchase something. Well, at least here in Europe nothing is legal unless you explicitly click on a button named "BUY NOW".

If I put in my key which I am using with v20 (copied directly from my order history and compared the first three blocks are the same as in the C1 app), there is a message:

    "No Upgrade Product Found".

    Bravo C1.

Hi Wolfgang. I agree with all your comments. The key validation procedure has the appearance that you are proceeding with the upgrade since there isn't any information on the page to let you know that initially you will be presented with a page of prices and options prior to agreeing to upgrade. The same rules apply here in Canada where nothing happens until you click on a button named "BUY NOW" but after reading about licensing and activation problems clients are experiencing, I'm just being cautious as I don't want any problems after validating my key.

But, If you were a potential client and were interested in purchasing the perpetual version of Capture One, it would be nice to know how much upgrades would cost before you purchase the software. So it's strange to me why you can't get this information until after you make the purchase and have a license key.

Yesterday I also submitted a support ticket and received a response today. The reply included a link that directed me to the same web page to validate my key but this time at least I had one line of text that loosely confirmed that prices and options would be available after key validation. So why can't they just say that on the web page and remove any doubt or simply post the upgrade prices from one version to another?

I entered my key and pressed "Validate" only to get the error "No Upgrade Product Found". Oh well, I might upgrade someday, but it's not going to be today.

Hi BeO. I experienced the same issue when I finally took a chance and entered my license key. After entering my key and carefully checking to make sure it was correct I pressed "Validate" and received the error message "No Upgrade Product Found".

I'm supposed to contact support to get this resolved.

To check the most recent comments about "No Upgrade Product Found" I have just logged in to my C1 Account from the main site landing page, selected the "Support" options and then the "Software Management" option.

    Then the "Upgrade License" option.

The screen then shows me my current license details and the upgrade options available (with and without a "deal" for styles) for both Perpetual and Subscription options.

My starting point is a Perpetual "Pro" license.

If I copy the license key provided above and paste that in the License Key validation option that is also available, it validates as expected.

It seems strange to need that function at that point. I assume it is there for anyone who may have forgotten their account login details or has discovered an unlisted license code and wishes to check its status. The code may be part of a corporate purchase batch perhaps or obtained through a third part and for some reason is not appearing as expected in the list in the user account.

One other reason would be that the existing license code applies for V22 (or whatever may be the current latest release at the time.) The Pre-purchase offers, for example, would fit into that category.

If none of those situations apply then I think only a "Request"  submitted under the pertinent option in the Support System is likely to come up with an explanation.

Hi SFA. Thank you for the information.

I followed your instructions and I don't see the same screens as you describe. Here' what I did:

    1. Logged into my C1 account on the main site landing page.
    2. Selected "Support" from the menu on the top of the page.
    3. Selected "Software Management" option.
    4. Selected "Upgrade License" option. Now I'm at the same page where it wants to validate my key. below the "Validate" selection there is a list showing differences between versions and below that FAQs but I don't see my current license details or available upgrade options.
    5. So at this point I entered my license key and selected "Validate" only to get the same error message.

I agree with your comments as to why this procedure may be required, but I see no reason not to clearly state upgrade paths and associated costs without a requirement to validate.

When I select "Support" from the menu on the top of the page I am getting redirected to the support site here, in a new tab.

However I see the "Upgrade License" option and step 4 and 5 are identical with Garry.

I have seen what SFA describes before Black Friday.

If one's account thinks if is already at the V22 license level there would be no upgrade to offer.

If one was under a subscription license for the full "Pro" version (or Enterprise and other subscription based licenses) there would be no Upgrade to offer.

If one was on a "free" license there is also no upgrade to offer since those are free licenses and any enhancement means buying the application rather than upgrading.

For any other situation that comes to mind, other than the use of a very old license key or an Account/License key combination that, for whatever reason, is not recognized, I cannot think of a reason to not be offered an upgrade screen OTHER THAN, something has gone awry within the license management system.

I would recommend an urgent "Request" submission to the appropriate "Request Type" option in order to try to resolve the problem before the end of year "holidays" kick in.

That's a good point SFA. It makes perfect sense that if the license management system thinks I've already upgraded to V22, then there aren't any upgrades to offer. I didn't think of that one ...

I agree with the various upgrade scenarios that you describe and why there wouldn't be any available upgrade offers. I also hope there isn't a problem with the license management system as that will create all sorts of problems.

The reason for my post was to determine an upgrade cost and now it's snowballed into a license key validation issue. Although I'm not in a rush, submitting a support ticket on the problem sooner than later is probably good advice especially since there could be some eggnog involved as we get closer to the holidays.

To anyone who reads this post, Merry Christmas and all the best in the new year to you and yours.

Thanks for checking out my web navigation steps BeO. It makes sense that they would offer special Black Friday deals that would be very easy to find. Not so much if you're upgrading ...

If one's account thinks if is already at the V22 license level there would be no upgrade to offer.

Maybe I can spare the upgrade costs with my existing lic key... lol

I'm not in a rush though.

Thanks Garry, same to you and your family.

Hi BeO. I contacted support and the reason I get the message "No Upgrade Product Found" is because although my current license key is valid for version 20, it's also valid for version 21 or 22, so the message is correct since there's no upgrade from version 22. The interesting part is that I can upgrade to 22 for free because Capture One has granted free upgrades depending on when the software was purchased prior to a major version release. Here's a clip from their support documentation:

Since you're also on version 20 and get the same message, maybe your license key is also valid for a free upgrade to version 22 depending on when you purchased the software.

I found that the navigation instructions in the documentation are incorrect so here's a link to the entire article:

    https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007791797-All-about-Capture-One-licenses

It all sounds too good to be true, but technical support has verified what's stated in the documentation.

I will not do any experiments, which could potentially lock me out, over the coming Xmas days, they will likely have slower response times until mid January, I assume...

Anyway, thanks for sharing, and enjoy the time ahead.

Hi BeO. That's a wise decision and I totally agree. I won't be upgrading until early next year just in case something goes awry.

I am planning to buy the one-time payment license ($299 USD at this moment) but I would like to know some  reference price for upgrading it, could you tell me what was the cost for upgrading from V20 to V22?

    Thank you and Best Regards

Hi John, Thanks for your quick reply and explanation. I just installed the demo version and will check the price on February to take a final decision.
