If you have installed Capture One 15.2, there is no reason why it shouldn't start the app. But you might need to restore the old 15.2 version of your catalog or session, because Capture One 15.2 won't be able to open one saved in 15.3.

I upgraded to version 15.3 and found this version was unstable on my computer. So I tried to reinstall version 15.2 but failed to run Capture One!

Not exactly a helpful symptom description :-)

I have seen what appears to be Capture One not starting, meaning no visible response, nothing happens.  Capture One did indeed start, but before reaching the point of presenting itself on screen, it terminated itself. In those cases Windows had an existing Capture One process running in the background with no visible screen. The new Capture One refused to run a second process and terminated. Killing the background process always solved the problem, Capture One could then be started as normal. A Windows restart would likely also work.

Your situation may be totally different, but who can tell from your  description?

When I installed version 15.3, I mainly encountered the following problems:
The normal screen after installation is like :

But after moving the mouse, the screen will change to something like :

I've never had this happen in my previous update.

Therefore, I reinstall version 15.2. Reboot after completing the entire installation process.
Nothing happens when I click the icon.
I know the situations where trying to open Capture One twice at the same time. Usually there will be a notification displayed on the screen.

I would like to know what is the standard procedure for reinstalling the elder version of Capture One?
Or is it impossible to reinstall the old version once it is updated?

No, it's perfectly possible to reinstall the earlier version if you want to. But perhaps when you click the icon, the icon is looking for the new version. Have you tried doubling clicking the old version in the Program Files folder? (Does Windows still let you do that?)

I click captureOne.exe file that in program files folder. The result is same.

Shall I uninstall the version 15.3 first or I can install 15.2 directly?

Now I just install version 15.2 (15.0 is same) directly and It did not work.

It's possible that it is a Windows issue rather than a Capture One issue. Perhaps it doesn't like you over-writing the .exe file with an older version. It would do no harm to uninstall the old version first, I think. But you would want your customisations, if any, retained. They are in the AppData folder on Windows, I think, so you would do well to copy them somewhere in case they get over-written.

Not quite the same thing. Never mind, we now know that your Capture One does start, but the GUI appears to screw up. My first checkpoint would be to turn off hardware acceleration to see if that makes a difference. Next would to make sure drivers are updated and that .net and other suspects like visual c++ match the requirements.

I tried the same thing after having user interface scaling problems in v15.3. I reinstalled v15.2 and it fails to open after a reboot - nothing happens at all when I try to launch it. Had to return to v15.3 to complete my work.

There is a FAQ that may or may not be useful: https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/categories/360000274557-FAQ

I had the same problem. Windows version. v15.3 is a disaster - crashes frequently - and reinstalling v 15.2 didn't work as it closed as soon as it opened. Solved by uninstalling v15.3 as described here
    https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002402377-How-do-I-uninstall-Capture-One-

I deactivated first, uninstalled, but did not delete the AppData folder or config files. Installed v 15.2, and it started correctly, and asked me for a catalog foler. I pointed it to a backup made before v15.3 had been installed as v15.2 will not load a 15.3 catalog. Eureka.

Thank you both. I will do that as described to return to v15.2.

One hint though. In my case the automatically created backup of the catalogue in the catalogue folder was inconsistent and couldn't be opened. Only the last full catalogue backup worked.

PLEASE ALL create a ticket on these issue in order to put pressure on the topic at the Phase One support.

      Yes.

This behavior is "normal" on my desktop machine and on the desktops of other users too.
