IMO, if C1 continues to push new functionality at the expense of product stability,C1 will LOSE market share and customers will "defect" to other editing tools.

Been reading that since version 3.7.

    Yet here we are...

Capture One is rock solid on my machine. Your local environment is likely to be the problem.

I don't think my local environment is the cause as I've had this problem on two different computers over five years. I checked the Windows event log for system software or hardware errors and found nothing. I checked the C1 application log and it contained three message about detecting a hang. My computer runs an Intel i5 quad-core processor at 3.5Ghz and I have 12GB of physical memory.

If there's something wrong with my installation, I would expect to see serious errors in the C1 log files, but I don't - unless C1 hangs.I don't know how to detect any other problems after checking the System Event log and checking the C1 program logs.

    Timothy,

As Keith R has experienced, I have been using C1 since version 5 and have rarely experienced any problems, even running multiple memory hungry applications at the same time, unless Windows has got itself in a bit of a mess.

Running out of available disk space a couple of times has been a problem - but entirely my fault - and can make windows hang.

If I am working directly off my NAS I can see slow or no response of the NAS has gone into hibernation. In some circumstances, but not always, using C1 to wake it up does not seem to kick it into life. I have no idea why but to be honest it is attached via WiFi on a potentially slightly erratic network connection via a range extender which also seem to stop responding now and again so no the most robust connections.

I have not had perpetual crashes using 3 different PCs, 2 with Windows 7 and now with Windows 10 for the past 2 years. However, the last 2 machines have had i7 processors and 24GB and now 48GB RAM to provide plenty of memory for running multiple applications at the same time.

Have you also checked the Windows system to see if it is reporting any generic issues or specific problems with Capture One?

Timothy Devick : I too are concerned about the stability and long term usability of C1. I also have tried DarkTable as resort if I can C1 not use any more. I think it is the roadmap of the ex ebay manager  Rafael Orta which is CEO. He has left behind 2/3 of the developers and Capture One is now a separate company and has not much to do with PhaseOne any more. He has a Cloud / Web app / service in mind for mobile devices. And want the masses of Mobile Device users attract. Look for interview on Image Recoruce.com When I put here a link the comment change the status to pending approval. So I removed the link.

What a shame C1 goes down the hill. I need a reliable RAW Editor, that functioning many years for my high resolution Cameras. With DT I can get also good results and I don't need a Windows installation. The DT project is much more reliable and they listen to the users. They deserve it to get supported.
