    > Gary Hutchinson: ...the FAQ states editing can't be done from an external HD

I think you should include a link to the actual FAQ article as a reference.

I am just an ignorant Windows user. You said "1TB laptop" in your original post while the FAQ article says "Capture One for iPad". Are they the same kind of device in the Mac universe?

No they are not the same thing in the Mac universe. I think that Gary has come across an article about the iPad version, as you have noticed. There should be no problem using images on an external drive.

Here is the exact wording from the FAQ. Note the first sentence. But yes, in the iPad paragraph it mentions the need to load into the iPad memory. I'm assuming the same for the laptop. Am I missing something? My hard drives are not showing up in the folders list.

Will you be able to work with an External hard drive?

You will not be able to work directly from an external hard drive. Images need to be imported into the Capture One app. You can of course import images from an external hard drive. We know this is a highly requested feature and we will investigate it in the future.

Yes, but that is definitely an article about the iPad app. It's not the same for a laptop.

If you are working in a catalog, you will need to add to the catalog the folder in which the images are located. it doesn't show up automatically in the folders list just because the drive is connected. (Unlike in a session where you can browse the whole files system at will.) You'd need to click the + button in the Folders section of the Library to add the folder(s) you want to see.

You can most definitely work from an external HD from a computer, the iPad is a totally different beast all together.

If you cannot see your hard drives, thats another issue all together.

Maybe include some screenshots to narrow the issue.

    - Are you using Sessions or Catalog
    - Where are you not seeing the HD

Breakthrough. Not sure about the FAQ (confused me). I have now figured out my dilemma and and adding sessions from my HD. Had to rewatch file management vids to fix my problem. Thanks for helping out.
