    Victor,

    Version 23?

I think you may need to tell people what does not seem to work so well for you compared to everything that David explained in the recent video.

David showed two uses for Fast Culling, one where he started an import from an SD card and one where he used fast culling on some files that already existed on a computer, in each case he was working with raw images. I tried to do the same as his example using already photos existing in Capture One Pro, but mine were jpeg files; my results were unimpressive; not very effective culling. My original question was does it make any difference whether using raw or jpeg files? Simple question, do you have a simple answer?

Based on the release notes, David's video and my experiences testing any file types that are supported for editing (see the release note section detailing limitations) should work.

However, the term "Culling" names an overall activity that, in practical terms for the new functionality provided, means using the existing file's embedded preview (whatever that might be) to make an assessment of the file that is adequate to decide whether to work with it, keep it or mark it for later discarding.

Therefore the possibly areas of unimpressiveness are presumably some combination of the quality of the preview, or the ability to apply and later use some form of identifier (colour tag or rating or something) in order to mark fioes for selection or de-selection.

Alternatively the "Grouping" facility might be something you find ineffective in some way.

I have not personally found any file type limitation but it's not something I have spent a lot of time researching. The release notes do not mention a limitation. I assume that David did not mention a limitation during his presentation. If he did I did not see it.

So my conclusion is that it seems unlikely that the file type, if normally supported by Capture One, would be a limitation.

Thank you for your replies and all your work, I worked on it again today, more diligently, and I got some useful results. As I said before, I am working with some existing photos in Capture One 23 Pro and they are jpeg files. So, it does work and will be useful. Thanks again
