Update: The installer created a new folder by default for C1-23 leaving the old version intact. Maybe this is new behavior... IDK. At any rate that's how it worked for me.

Yes, in Windows it replaces the previous version. Ok, now I know what to expect. Thanks to both Ian and Mark for the help.
