New Features and Functionality
Zoom, Pan, and Focus Nudging During Live View for Sony
You can now zoom, pan, and nudge the focus during Live View with all the Sony cameras released in 2020 or later.
Fujifilm Reala Ace Film Simulation Updates
The Reala Ace Film Simulation is now available for the Fujifilm X-H2, X-H2s, X-S20, and X-T5. We've also improved the current Reala Ace implementation for Fujifilm GFX100II, GFX100IIS and the X100VI.
User Experience and Performance Improvements
Switch Crop Orientation
Switching the crop orientation between landscape and portrait is now easier. Previously, you had to drag the corner of the crop drastically to change its orientation.
Now, you can use a new button in the Crop Tool, a new menu item in the aspect ratio drop-down menu, or the new default shortcut, Shift + X.
Faster Preview Generation
We’ve optimized high-end hardware usage for faster preview generation when building multiple previews simultaneously. Our internal benchmarks show up to 2.2x faster preview generation times when importing 100 RAW files in Capture One 16.4.4 compared to 16.4.3 and 16.4.2:
- Mac Studio M1 Ultra 4K Quality Previews
- Canon R5: 2.47 times faster (42 sec. vs 17 sec.)
- Fuji XT-5: 1.52 times faster (79 sec. vs 52 sec.)
- Nikon Z9: 2.19 times faster (35 sec. vs 16 sec.)
- Sony A7R4: 2.00 times faster (38 sec. vs 19 sec.)
- Mac Studio M1 Ultra 5K Quality Previews
- Canon R5: 2.06 times faster (72 sec. vs 35 sec.)
- Fuji XT-5: 1.58 times faster (103 sec. vs 65 sec.)
- Nikon Z9: 1.80 times faster (63 sec. vs 35 sec.)
- Sony A7R4: 2.00 times faster (50 sec. vs 25 sec.)
- MacBook M3 Max 4K Quality Previews
- Canon R5: 2.06 times faster (33 sec. vs 16 sec.)
- Fuji XT-5: 1.29 times faster (67 sec. vs 52 sec.)
- Nikon Z9: 1.75 times faster (28 sec. vs 16 sec.)
- Sony A7R4: 1.75 times faster (28 sec. vs 16 sec.)
- MacBook M3 Max 5K Quality Previews
- Canon R5: 1.93 times faster (56 sec. vs 29 sec.)
- Fuji XT-5: 1.37 times faster (86 sec. vs 63 sec.)
- Nikon Z9: 1.70 times faster (51 sec. vs 30 sec.)
- Sony A7R4: 1.84 times faster (57 sec. vs 31 sec.)
Capture One always prioritizes preview generation for the selected image, so you don’t need to wait for all previews to build before working on your images.
Bug Fixes
General
- Fixed an issue in Capture One Live, where client's selections were not synchronized under certain circumstances.
macOS
- Fixed an issue where AI masking may break when used together with the Rotate feature.
- Fixed an issue where the "Export completed" message would not show.
- Fixed an issue where Capture One Live would frequently show a message about reconnecting.
- Fixed an issue that may lead to excessive RAM usage when using the Culling feature with DNG files.
System Requirements
macOS Minimum Requirements
- From macOS 12.7 to macOS 14.6
- Intel Core i3 (1st generation)
- 8 GB of RAM
- 10 GB of free hard disk space
- Calibrated monitor with 1280×800, 24-bit resolution
- Internet connection to run Capture One Live
Microsoft Windows Minimum Requirements
- Windows 10 64-bit (22H2) or Windows 11 (21H2 to 23H2)
- Intel Core i3 (1st generation) or AMD Jaguar Family
- 8 GB of RAM
- 10 GB of free hard disk space
- Calibrated monitor with 1280×800, 24-bit resolution
- Internet connection to run Capture One Live
4K Monitors
For optimal performance on 4K monitors, we recommend doubling the initial specifications due to the increased computational demands. Additionally, investing in a high-performance GPU with ample VRAM is highly recommended for these configurations to handle the intensive graphics processing.

Recommendations and Limitations
Note: The information provided here is subject to change and unintentional errors may occur. For any queries or further clarification, please contact Capture One Support at https://support.captureone.com/
General Guidelines
- Browsing folders containing unsupported image files may affect application performance.
- Previews from earlier versions of Capture One may be updated, which can affect the application performance the first time images are viewed in this version.
- Using a non-US laptop keyboard might require changing some of the standard keyboard shortcuts.
- Editing images in external applications other than Adobe Photoshop might result in unexpected behavior.
- Operating under virtualization software (e.g., Parallels, Hackintosh, etc.) may cause instability. These OS configurations are not recommended.
- Some cameras provide multishot functionality by way of multiple exposures or pixel shifting. In most cases, this functionality will not be available in Capture One. However, a single RAW file from the “stack” may be viewable and editable in Capture One (as if it was a shot in single Capture mode).
- Special or auxiliary modes (like pixel shift) are only supported if noted. If the information provided is incomplete or you need specific information pertaining to support in Capture One, kindly reach out to Capture One Support at captureone.com/support.
File Support
- HEIC/HEIF support: Capture One supports HEIC/HEIF 8-bit files to the extent that the operating system supports the files. If you are on a Windows computer, you might need to download the two extensions “HEVC Video Extensions” and “HEIF Image Extensions” from Microsoft to enable support in Capture One.
- Capture One DNG colors: DNG files from camera models with native support in Capture One will per default have their native Capture One colors applied. DNG files from camera models that are not natively supported in Capture One will have generic DNG Standard colors applied. Adjustments and settings from other applications embedded in DNG files are not supported.
- Other file support: TIF/JPG/PSD/PNG files that are not in RGB color space cannot be adjusted within Capture One and will be read-only. Layered Tiff and PSD files can be supported for viewing purposes only. Reprocessing the image will result in a new flattened image.
- File size limitations: The smallest supported file for viewing has a minimum side of 16 pixels. The smallest supported file for editing has a minimum side of 512 pixels. The largest supported file is 715 megapixels or 65,000 pixels on the longest edge.
Known Issues
- You can find a list of known bugs in a dedicated community forum topic titled Known Bugs. Note that this list may not be up to date on the day of a new Capture One version release.

The focus is still not working in live view?! Im using a7rv and its greyed out....
The minimum hardware requirement is completely missleading. My Macbook Pro meets the requirements and yet it's impossible to use the apps key new features e.g. AI masking for even a single photo let alone 1000+ photos I take each session, it appears to just hangs the app. What disapointment trial comming to an abrupt end at the first hurdle : (
As a side note I also upgrading my main session from the previos C1 version which rendered all my photos unusable. This threw me somewhat thinkig it might have corruped the files, but luckily creating a fresh session seemed to fix this glitch.
Any update on ability to nudge the focus during Live View with Sony Cameras. Release notes says you can but ina test with Sony A7rV it remains greyed out.
