New features and functionality
Combine Masks
Combine masks to create complex yet flexible selections in seconds.
- Add masks together to form a combined mask of different subjects, areas, or luminosity ranges.
- Subtract masks to quickly exclude specific subjects, areas, or luminosity ranges from your overall selection.
- Intersect masks to create a final mask that only covers overlapping areas, ideal for applying gradients or other adjustments to precise parts of your image.
You can add, subtract, and intersect masks freely to create a combined group of masks. Each group counts as a single layer, no matter how many masks it contains.
When combining dynamic masks like Gradients or Luma Ranges, they remain dynamic, ensuring full control even after they’re combined.
Combined masks are also supported in Styles, with a few limitations. When including them in Styles, underlying masks created with AI Select or the regular Brush aren’t supported and will be replaced with empty masks. All other masks are included and applied in the best approximated position.
When copying combined masks between images, any masks created by interacting with the viewer (Gradients, AI Select, and the regular Brush) will keep their original position relative to the aspect ratio. All other masks will be recalculated based on the content of the target image.
For details, see Combine Masks.
Retouch Tool Tab updates
The Retouch Tool Tab has been reorganized into separate tools: Retouch Selector, Retouch Face Skin, Retouch Eyes, and Retouch Teeth. Each tool can be collapsed, rearranged, or removed from the workspace, giving you full flexibility to customize your setup.
All related documentation is now grouped in a dedicated section of the Capture One User Guide, see Retouching Tools.
The Retouch Tool Tab now includes Retouch Eyes, Retouch Teeth, and a new Include Neck Area option for Even Skin and Blemish Removal.
Retouch Eyes
Retouch Eyes automatically detects the eyes and enhances the iris and sclera separately, enriching iris color, preserving shadows and highlights, and brightening the sclera for a more neutral tone. Yellow tint and redness are reduced, while blood vessels stay visible but softer.
Use offset sliders to fine-tune each eye individually or adjust both together.
Retouch Eyes is supported in Styles, though individual eye offsets are not included.
For details, see Retouch Eyes Tool.
Retouch Teeth
Retouch Teeth provides controls for both brightness and desaturation. Darker or more saturated areas are affected slightly more, helping to even out the overall tone for a natural result.
For details, see Retouch Teeth Tool.
Include Neck Area for Blemish Removal and Even Skin
Blemish Removal and Even Skin can now include the Neck Area through a dedicated toggle. This setting can be adjusted individually per face and per feature and is fully supported in Styles.
For details, see Retouch Face Skin.
Contact Sheets (beta)
Create contact sheets in seconds with the updated Contact Sheets function (currently in beta), perfect for quick sharing or client previews.
Your images automatically fit the page and chosen layout, and you can export the result as a JPEG or PDF.
Customize the page layout, margins, background color, grid dimensions, and spacing to your liking. You can also choose whether to include image names on the sheet.
Please note that this feature replaces Web Contact Sheet (Legacy), which are no longer available.
For details, see Contact Sheets (beta).
Clothes masking in People Masking
You can now mask clothes directly from the People Masking dialog. The tool automatically detects and masks all clothing worn by people in the image.
Clothes that aren’t being worn may not be masked accurately.
For details, see AI Masking.
HSL Readouts
You can now switch readouts to HSL by going to View > Readout Format > HSL.
For details, see Working with color values.
PSB support
Capture One now supports reading and exporting PSB files, offering the same feature set as PSD. A PSB file is Adobe Photoshop’s large document format, built to handle files that exceed the 2 GB limit of the standard PSD format.
Note that general Capture One file limitations still apply when importing: the maximum supported file for editing is 715 megapixels or 65,000 pixels on the longest edge.
However, Capture One can export images beyond this limit—up to the maximum capabilities of the PSB format.
For details, see PSB format support.
Live for Studio updates
Live for Studio introduces major improvements for a smoother, more seamless collaboration experience.
- Keyboard shortcuts are now enabled in the Live for Studio app (available on the App Store), allowing the use of wireless keyboards and clickers. This also makes using Live for Studio on a Mac more enjoyable – you can now navigate images with the arrow keys. As a reminder, you can download iPad apps on an M-series Mac via the App Store.
- Trigger Force to Follow mode directly from the desktop. All connected devices will switch to Follow mode, ensuring collaborators always see the latest images. You can assign a keyboard shortcut for this action.
- Display selected images from Mac on iPad. All connected devices will show the image you select on your Mac. You can also assign a keyboard shortcut for this action.
Capture One 16.7 is not compatible with previous versions of Live for Studio. To ensure compatibility, update the iPadOS app to version 1.4.0 or later.
User experience and performance improvements
Canon Manufacturer Lens Profiles for all EOS cameras with RF mount
In Capture One 16.6, we added manufacturer lens profile support for the Canon EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II. Now, this support has been expanded to all Canon EOS cameras with RF mount.
Please note that, unlike the R1/R5 Mark II implementation, these new profiles are not selected by default in Capture One and do not automatically apply Light Fall-off correction.
Enhanced Fujifilm tethering
Focus Cursor Tool in Live View
The new Focus Cursor Tool lets you click anywhere on the image in Live View to focus on that point. This feature is available for all tethering-supported Fujifilm models and is only visible when tethering with a compatible camera.
For details, see Fujifilm Focus Cursor Tool
Camera Focus control when tethering
You can now control camera focus when tethering with all Fujifilm models that support tethering.

- GFX100RF
- X-E5
- X-H2
- X-M5
- X-T5
- X-T50
- X100VI
For details, see Fujifilm in-camera crop support
Drive Mode settings for supported models
Drive Mode settings are supported when tethering the following Fujifilm models:
- X-T5 (setting is read only because it is a physical dial)
- GFX 100RF
- GFX 100II

Recommendations and limitations
Note: The information provided here is subject to change and unintentional errors may occur. For any queries or further clarification, please contact support at https://support.captureone.com/
General guidelines
- Browsing folders containing unsupported image files may affect application performance.
- Previews from earlier versions of Capture One may be updated, which can affect the application performance the first time images are viewed in this version.
- Using a non-US laptop keyboard might require changing some of the standard keyboard shortcuts.
- Editing images in external applications other than Adobe Photoshop might result in unexpected behavior.
- Operating under virtualization software (e.g., Parallels, Hackintosh, etc.) may cause instability. These OS configurations are not recommended.
- Some cameras provide multishot functionality by way of multiple exposures or pixel shifting. In most cases, this functionality will not be available in Capture One. However, a single RAW file from the “stack” may be viewable and editable in Capture One (as if it was a shot in single Capture mode).
- Special or auxiliary modes (like pixel shift) are only supported if noted. If the information provided is incomplete or you need specific information pertaining to support in Capture One, kindly reach out to Capture One Support at captureone.com/support.
File support
- HEIC/HEIF support: Capture One supports HEIC/HEIF 8-bit files to the extent that the operating system supports the files. If you are on a Windows computer, you might need to download the two extensions “HEVC Video Extensions” and “HEIF Image Extensions” from Microsoft to enable support in Capture One.
- Capture One DNG colors: DNG files from camera models with native support in Capture One will per default have their native Capture One colors applied. DNG files from camera models that are not natively supported in Capture One will have generic DNG Standard colors applied. Adjustments and settings from other applications embedded in DNG files are not supported.
- Other file support: TIF/JPG/PSD/PNG files that are not in RGB color space cannot be adjusted within Capture One and will be read-only. Layered Tiff and PSD files can be supported for viewing purposes only. Reprocessing the image will result in a new flattened image.
- File size limitations: The smallest supported file for viewing has a minimum side of 16 pixels. The smallest supported file for editing has a minimum side of 512 pixels. The largest supported file is 715 megapixels or 65,000 pixels on the longest edge.
