Retouch Faces Skin tool, an AI-powered tool introduced in Capture One 16.6.0 as Retouch Faces tool, makes it easy to get natural high-end retouching results in less time.
The Retouch Faces Skin Tool supports:
- Next Capture Adjustments – on multiple faces, we’ll apply edits in the same face order as the source; if the face order changes, Capture One won’t recognize them
- Copy and Apply – on multiple faces, we’ll apply edits in the same face order as the source; if the face order changes, Capture One won’t recognize them
- Styles and Presets – only global adjustments to all faces are included

How to use the Retouch Face Skin Tool
You’ll find the tool in the Retouch Tool Tab.
Retouch Face Selector will detect faces automatically, so you can start editing right away using a few simple sliders.
Apply adjustments to all faces in the image at once, or fine-tune each face individually.
Retouch Face Skin sliders
Impact controls the overall strength of all other sliders in the Retouch Face Skin Tool.
Blemish Removal removes skin distractions while keeping natural skin texture intact. Lower values (0 to 40) target more visible blemishes. Higher values focus on finer distractions.
Blemish Protection feature lets you mark areas of the face that won’t be affected by the Blemishes slider.
You can access the Blemish Protection Brush and Blemish Protection Eraser from the Toolbar or the Retouch Faces Tool. In the Retouch Faces Tool, you can also adjust brush settings and reset the protection area for the image.
Protection areas are shown in green. Their visibility depends on the Mask Visibility settings, even though the protection area isn’t technically a mask.
Styles, Presets, and Copy/Apply ignore these protection areas.
Note: The effectiveness of the Blemish Removal tool may be limited in cases involving theatrical lighting, heavy or creative makeup, and other non-standard visual elements. In such scenarios, results may be inconsistent or unsatisfactory.
Dark Circles reduces dark circles under eye while preserving structure and fine lines.
Even Skin smooths out contrast differences across larger skin areas. It keeps highlights and texture, and the Texture slider lets you control how much texture is preserved.
Contouring adds depth to portraits by darkening targeted shadow areas.
Neck Area
Blemish Removal and Even Skin can now be applied to the Neck Area as well with a toggle. This can
be individually controlled per face and per feature and is respected in Styles.
