For some macOS users, Capture One may request activation every time it is launched. This can happen for several reasons:
1. Capture One is being launched from the disk image (DMG)
If you open Capture One directly from the disk image after downloading, macOS security settings prevent the app from performing a hardware check. As a result, activations will not be remembered.
Solution:
- Copy the Capture One application from the disk image to your Applications folder before launching it.
- Do not drag it straight to the Dock from the DMG, as this will create an alias and keep launching from the disk image.
2. macOS Gatekeeper is blocking hardware checks
Even when Capture One is correctly installed in the Applications folder, macOS Gatekeeper may block the necessary permissions.
Solution:
- Go to System Preferences (or System Settings) → Security & Privacy → Privacy → Accessibility.
- Unlock the settings (click the padlock and enter your admin password).
- Add the Capture One application to the list.
- If it’s not listed, click the plus (+) sign and add it manually from your Applications folder.
Still not working?
If the issue persists:
- Try renaming the application in the Applications folder (e.g., “Capture One001”).
- If that doesn’t help, download and reinstall Capture One:

That sounds scary indeed. Does it mean that C1 runs only on Macs if it has the complete control, or is this a workaround for some machines only, because the real root cause of the issue cannot be solved by C1?
