The New Filled Adjustments Layer option adds a new layer complete with a mask covering the entire image. This makes it inherently useful for several labor-saving tasks, such as when adding adjustments to the whole image except for small areas which can be brushed away with the Erase Mask (E) or when applying baseline adjustments in normalized workflows, color grades or simple auto adjustments, using a layer for each version within a variant.
- Select an image.
- Go to the Layers tool and long-press on the Create New Layer button, the (+) icon, and select New Filled Adjustments Layer.
Alternatively, go to the menu and select Layer -> Add New Filled Adjustment layer. - A new layer complete with a mask is created and added to the Layers tool (double-click on the Layer or press Return to enter a new descriptive name).
- Select the layer and add the chosen adjustment using the Color Balance tool or the Sharpening tool or any other tool that works with Layers (it will have a small brush icon next to its name).
Also, it is possible to apply a Style or Preset available from the Action menu of the Layers tool. The applied adjustment is saved to the layer.
