Compatibility
Most modern RAW files include embedded metadata that enables lens correction, even if the lens used doesn't have a dedicated Capture One profile. When no such data is available, generic corrections can be applied manually.
Manufacturer Profiles vs. Capture One Lens Profiles
When available (and no Capture One profile is available), Capture One applies a Manufacturer Profile.
The Manufacturer Profile is created by your lens manufacturer and tailored for that lens model, fine-tuned by the original maker to match their optics and sensors.
These aren’t fallback options. For many recent camera and lens combinations, Manufacturer Profiles offer excellent results.
Capture One also offers custom profiles, often for lenses that lack embedded data or as part of collaborations with camera brands. These give you more flexibility but don’t necessarily replace the Manufacturer Profile.
If a Manufacturer Profile is available, it’s usually a solid choice. You’re always welcome to compare profiles and choose the one that gives you the results you’re after.
Using a Different Mount for the Same Lens
Generally, third-party lenses such as those from Sigma, Tamron, and others have the same optical layout across different camera mounts. This means you can often use a profile for a different mount of the same lens with minimal impact on image correction.
For example, the Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM | A appears twice—once for Canon EF and once for Nikon F mount. However, the Sigma 50mm F2.8 EX DG Macro only shows a Canon EF mount version. If you're using this lens on a Nikon F mount, it’s usually safe to apply the EF profile manually.
Capture One won’t automatically apply a mismatched mount profile—you’ll need to select it yourself. Once selected, like any other adjustment, it can be copied and applied to other image variants with the same camera setup.
Use a Generic Correction
If your lens has no embedded or available profile, you can apply one of two Generic corrections in the Lens Correction tool. These allow you to manually adjust for barrel or pincushion distortion—ensuring better results than leaving the image uncorrected.
Though more manual, these adjustments can be saved as a Preset for easy re-use during import or in batch workflows.
FAQ
What if my lens doesn't show up in the list?
If your lens doesn’t appear, check if a Manufacturer Profile is already applied automatically. If not, you can select a similar lens manually or use a Generic correction for manual adjustment.
Can I trust the Manufacturer Profile?
Yes. Manufacturer Profiles are often the best choice for modern lenses, as they're tuned by the camera makers to work specifically with the lens-sensor combo in your camera.
How do I apply the same lens correction to multiple images?
Once you've selected or adjusted a lens profile, you can copy the adjustment and paste it onto other images with the same camera and lens setup using the standard Adjustments Clipboard in Capture One.
Will using a mismatched mount profile cause problems?
Usually not. Third-party lenses tend to use identical optical designs across mounts. Just double-check the results and adjust if needed.
Troubleshooting
Lens correction isn't applied automatically
Make sure your camera's firmware embeds a Manufacturer Profile. If not, select a profile manually or use a Generic correction.
Image looks distorted even with a profile applied
Try comparing the Manufacturer Profile with any available Capture One profile. One may yield better results depending on the lens and scene.
Can't find a matching mount version
If only a different mount version is available (e.g., EF instead of F), try selecting that. Optical differences are usually negligible.

It received:
- an EISA Award for Photo Innovation of the year 2017-2018
- a TIPA World Awards for best DSLR superzoom lens in 2018
Therefore it should definitely be supported by Capture One Pro.

Could you please add a lens profile for my F mount Nikkor 28MM f/1.4E lens? This is my most used lens and it would definitely be appreciated.
What I would really appreciate is the ability to apply ANY lens correction to a rendered image - jpg or tif. If I want to process an image made with my cell phone for example, even manual lens corrections are grayed out and inaccessible.Back when I used Lr I had that option.
Also, Adobe offers (offered?) the ability to create and use one's own lens profiles and to share them with others. That could also be of benefit to some users, especially with older, manual lenses. For example, a friend of ours shoots a lot of macro work with old enlarger lenses. But this would be useful for old Minolta, Pentax, Hasselblad, Nikon... lenses.

Any shot made with Voigtlander Apo-Lanthar 35mm f2 Aspherical lens on Sony a7riv, Capture One recognizes as Loxia 35mm and that goes also for Voigtlander Apo-Lanthar 50mm f2 Aspherical which gets recognizes as Loxia 50mm. So, I applied to the Customer support with no positive outcome (not to say receiving bureaucratic and absurd responses). The problem is not solely that it recognizes as a different lens, but also as you export the image in the EXIF it registers as the other lens (mentioned above). No other software except Capture One does this!!!!

Niestety wady obiektywów z nich nie są korygowane w takim stopniu jak np w Lightroom. Wrzucam zdjęcie z Parrota Anafi do Lightroom i mam tam odpowiedni profil, który idealnie prostuje zakrzywienia. Dla mnie tylko tego obecnie brakuje gdyz wychodzi nowy C 1 22 wiec będzie mam nadzieję tam wszystko. I mam nadzieję ,że takie profile do dronów tez się tam znajdą.

Nikon Z lenses, especially the phenomenal industry class standard Z 70-200 f2.8, and the most versatile and probably sharpest ever Z 24-120 f4 are not supported. The result is, when opening a RAW, you will get an ugly vignetting. This is independent from the camera used (Z9 or Z6II) And you need to set that vignette back manually on all images in one step.
Is there a way to make this automatic, can I write a lens profile myself?
PLEASE PRIORITIZE a profile for LEICA Q2 MONOCROM !! it’s been out a long time, The Q2 is a popular camera and capture does have a partnership would Leica after all.
Laslo: Since there's no lens profile for the lens(es) you're describing, I'm assuming you're using the Vignetting tool (and not the Light Falloff tool) If you're making the same correction to every image shot with that lens you can simply create a custom preset, select all of the images made with that lens and apply the preset to all of them (make sure Edit Selected is turned on). If you're only importing images made with that lens, you can apply that preset on import.

I tried the light Fall off setting in the Lens Profile tool… yesterday
I made the edits on a new set of pictures.
It dis not work out well… I had problems as in the final exports there was a white-ish vignette on most of the pictures, especially with wider zoom images (on both lenses I used: 24-120Z and 70-200Z).
This was not visible on the edit screens.
So I am puzzled now and I think it is better not to touch these light fall-off sliders and just leave the manufacturer’s profile as it is by default…
So finally as a summary it seems that the pictures under editing do not perfectly utilize the manufacturer’s lens profile embedded into the Raw files, but finally at export they are used.
But now I really don’t know.

Manufacturer profiles of the DJI drone cameras are worthless, light falloff is terrible and there is a strong color cast (towards green). Drone photography is huge, please consider expanding support to these sytsems.
I find it difficult to understand why we can’t add our own custom profiles? This should be possible given the slow pace and pretty incomplete list of lens profiles baked in C1.

Actually a favorit lens. Doing some panorama with CO stittching tool.
It has a light fall of that needs to be corrected.

Greatly appreciate it if you could add the following Sigma Art Lens profiles (preferably e-mount)
Sigma 28mm F1.4 DG HSM Art (e-mount)
Sigma 40mm F1.4 DG HSM Art (e-mount)
Sigma 70mm F 2.8 DG DN Macro Art (e-mount)
The first two get very high reviews from many people as belonging to the pinnacle of Sigma art lenses. While the 40mm is extremely well corrected, the 28mm profile can probably benefit from Capture One's magic. Both of these lenses would typically be used by professionals (and weight lifters).
The 70mm macro is not the same as the older A-mount version (different optics), and quite popular.

Chromatic aberration and light fall-off are two of its most critical issues that need to be fixed.
As far as I know canon RF 100mm F2.8 macro is a very popular lens. It would be very helpful if it was on the list.

I have been using the Tamron F2.0-2.8/35-150mm Di III VXD lens for over a year. It has been one of my most used lenses on the Sony A9 + A7r5. Unfortunately, I've been waiting for a lens profile in Capture One. May I hope that this will be implemented in the near future? With kind regards

It's frustrating to hear about the issue you're facing with Capture One recognizing your Voigtlander Apo-Lanthar lenses as Loxia lenses. It's even more concerning that the customer support experience hasn't been positive, with bureaucratic and absurd responses. This not only affects the in-app recognition but also impacts the EXIF data upon export, which is certainly inconvenient. It's puzzling that this problem seems unique to Capture One, as you mentioned. Hopefully, they can address this lens recognition problem promptly and provide a more satisfactory resolution.

I agree, it is frustrating and poor support. However, the Manufacturer's Profile appears to work OK. And checking to see what the profile is doing regarding distortion can be seen by using the Crop tool and toggling the 'Hide Distorted Areas' check box in the Lens Correction tab.
In the later updates of Capture One, they have been kind enough to inlude a Leica Q3 profile which concerningly renders the image ever so slightlyy differently but you do get the added functionality of being able to adjust Sharpness and Light Falloff which is unavailable on the Manufacturers Profile.
This may all sound a bit arrogant on Leica's part but when you are spending that amount of £$€'s on a camera, you should really have to be adjusting anything anyway!
