    Yeah!
Capture One Pro (16.3.2) Release Notes – Capture One
Thanks to the Capture One support team for helping to achieve this. Please note that the A7CR and A7CII are the only additional camers supported in this release so this thread surely helped :-)

I will wait until next year (Black Friday) to edit my raws. Or I'll see what I do,…

You are welcome Christian Sinner and thank you to everybody in this thread who collaborated with us, or even shared their concerns. It feels good to finally have support for these cameras out there :)

I'm really happy to see the support for A7CII now as well :) It's great that my decision to update perpetual license to 16.3 earlier before it was known when A7CII support would come worked out in the end.

Thanks to C1 team and everybody who contributed :)

Thanks for the support and including it in 16.3 version, so it does not require an additional investment for me.

I wish a situation like this does not occur again in the future and if it eventually does, then I suggest an earlier and better communication with your customers. Personally I work as project manager and the thing I learnt in my carreer — things and issues can happen, but the key is the communication.

    Keep up the good work!

Thank you for 16.3.2.1789 now supporting A7Cm2.

I hope we will all learn from this experience, I certainly didn't really enjoy the initial awakening and hope that this doesn't repeat.

I'd love a mission statement from the company clarifying their position moving forward, so we all know what to expect, that would be great.

Have a nice day, start shooting!

Peter Graf I don't expect this to happen again, so hopefully a "mission statement" isn't necessary.

But you can always count on us to keep you informed as much as possible here on the forum. I'm really happy that we were able to address this quickly, with a massive thanks to those who have contributed to this thread and also the devs who worked hard on getting supported implemented in 16.3.2

    No thanks. Really. No thanks.

I bought Capture One in May 2023, a perpetual licence and of course I didn't expect to have free updates indefinitely. I thought of upgrading every 2 or 3 years.

I can update for free until 16.2.6, but to have the support of the Sony a7cii - which is 16.3, I have to pay again. I think full price?! That would be like 4 or 5 years of Lightroom on a monthly payment...

It's a major disappointment - I won't pay for that HUGE scam - just an authorization to read the Exif of the A7cii and nothing else. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be the only one disappointed.

I thought Capture One respected its customers more than Adobe. I was quite wrong...

I'll modify the EXIF with another tool and will still use Capture One until I switch to Lightroom, which is now less expensive, has the layers and is more powerful with AI tools. I guess Capture One doesn't care - as reflected by the time they put to support this very popular camera on the market.

I'll not spend one euro on Capture one again. Bye!

I've scoured this thread, I've read the camera compatibility chart and release notes, and I'm still confused as to whether if I buy the Capture One 23 perpetual license right now, will the A7Cii files be supported?

Why would you buy the Capture One 23 licence now? That's not the latest version.

That's what I saw for sale at Adorama https://www.adorama.com/coproc.html  "Capture One 23 Pro"

    Does this support the A7Cii?

No. The list of supported cameras is here.

    https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002718118-Camera-models-and-RAW-files-supported-by-Capture-One#h_0db21c85-0097-4e22-b300-a1aa6503397c

The support for this camera was added in version 16.3.2 (and it's now just called Capture One Pro, not Capture One 23). The last version of Capture One 23 was release 16.2.6.

Thanks for clarifying. It's confusing with the different version numbering schemes. The 16.x.x version numbers never seem to be referred to when I go to buy the software, so I don't quite know what I'm buying to compare it to the camera support chart.

Wild that I could go to a popular online photography store, buy the latest version of a software, and it doesn't work with a camera that's been out for months.

Except it's not the latest version of the software that they've sold you.

    Right, I understand that now.

The confusion was that it is the latest version for sale at both Adorama and B&H. Also just the general assumption in my head was that version 23 referred to the year I am currently in, and seeing the version numbers counting up for the past many years 20, 21, 22, 23, and no 24 yet, I thought this was the latest one.

I beg to differ. C1 is listed here in this website as either Capture One Pro OR the older version as Capture One 23.
What is being sold however is Capture One Pro 23. To me this indicates that this is the current, newest version of Capture One Pro.
I have such a license and it is currently at the newest version 16.3.26 or whatever, supporting the A7c2

Just to update: I bought the download card from adorama and it turned out to work fine with my A7cii. The card was branded "capture one pro"

Es ist mir unbegreiflich, dass ich eine teuer gekaufte Version CaptureOne 2022 15.4.2.10 habe und diese nicht mehr für die Sony Alpha 7C II funktionieren soll!! Wieso gibt es da kein Update mehr? Variante 2023 würde mich wieder viel Geld kosten. Das ist doch Abzocke!!

I just try 16.3.3.6 on a Mac with macOS Monterey 14.7.2 and there is NO support for ARW files of Sony A7CII.

    What do I do wrong?

Edit, seems to work now..... sorry.

Yes, I have just checked and my 16.3.3 does have a profile for this camera. Good to know you've got it working.
