Same here. Same version, latest os. Importing some 192 5DmarkIV images took me 20 minutes yesterday! A similar bug showed up a few years ago … making import impossible. Also, the autosave function that syncs the db journal every x actions saves about every 10 minutes. The saving takes 12 minutes! It would be great if those settings could be user preferences that stick. OK, my risk to run without full continuous backups, but at least it goes way faster! My large libraries work way better this way. Like, almost usable again. 2 x 200K images (commercial work / personal work) and my work needs a visible time structure : so making a catalogue for each year is a no go : don't wanna search all images related to a keyword throughout the years in different catalogues. Catalogues are on separate SSDS, referenced files on a 24TB raid. Aperture can handle this shit … so much faster. Even today. Loading big catalogues makes C1 slow as molasses. However, if you are brave and edit the SQL db settings with an app like Base, you can disable the force sync of the db. Also, it would be wonderful if the code for checking images (loading the catalogues) would count on verifying the existence of all individual file. why not lazy load all info, kill the redundant queries and just make the album switching and thumbnail views a priority ?

Same problems here.  Importing/moving/deleting images is very, very slow (problem not seen in previous versions of C1).

same here, newest iMac, purely SSD drives, sony Tough SD card in fast reader with 250MB/s read (measured) and now (version 13.1.0.172)  I get about one image per second when importing. Before it was much faster... This is really annoying.

    Same issue here.

Hackintosh i9 9900k, 32GB RAM Catalogue on M2 SSD, Images on SATA SSD

startet yesterday afternoon to import some sessions from the last month to my main catalogue, the process is running all night and still calls for another 7 hours. My catalogue has around 200k images, wasn't an major issue during previous C1 versions.

Same process in LR is finished in around 30min.

Yes I have the same Issue after updating to the newest version but only on my Mac Pro 5.1 on Catalina OS. On my MacBook Pro 2011 with macOS High Sierra the import was quicker for this old machine. On the previous version of capture one everything was working quick and snappy.

Opening the app takes around 1 minute +

Importing images takes about 4-6 seconds for one picture. I have tried to import a project with 2434 pictures took more than 7,5 hours. I cannot tell my clients to wait for a day to start working. I need a solution fast, please.

Same here since last C1 update.

Importing 500 images from a folder on internal SSD on a Mac Pro 2019 !!! suddenly takes more than half an hour. This used to be 60 Seconds.

    What is going on C1?

Just a thought have you got exclude suspected duplicates ticked, on Windows this has always caused the symptoms you describe, I don’t know if this is true on Mac.

There is a new C1 release (13.1.1) available. Go check for updates.

Will see if this helps in our matter.

Same here, importing a finished session into my main catalogue from yesterdays shooting takes around 15min. We're talking about 145 Images!!! Working in sessions is fine, but I need a working catalogue. Really thinking of returning to LR.

Same for me 13.1.1 still very broken. Support have advise returning to the older version 20.0.4 for now...

updated and yes. no change: overal app is faster, but importing is sloooooow. catalog on SSD and referenced files on Raid 0 32TB. same with new catalog, excluding duplicates on or off.

also : if you let the import window built up the thumbnails and then close it again, to re-open it : the preview built up goes as fast as it used to — for the first 192 images or so, then it goes to weirdly slow again.

Update to 13.1.1 shows still the same very very poor file transactions (import, moving files, keywording, ...). C1 support ask me to give more Information.

I read on another post that if one imports an existing catalog into an empty new one that performance can be often raised significantly.

My basics: C1 release 13.1.1. All 70k Images are referenced, around 80% of them are RAW images, 2.17TB in total. The C1 catalog (320GB) as well as the images all sit on internal SSD on a Mac Pro 2019 with 48GB RAM and a Radeon Pro Vega II graphics card.

So I went for the 'trouble':

I imported my existing neatly organised 70k images catalog into a new empty catalog. It took 30 (thirty) hours + some minutes. (That's 2 seconds per image)

As the previews were not carried over from the old to the new catalog, generating the previews in the new catalog took another 25+ hours.

Now I had a new 'clean' catalog that took 40 seconds to load and start in C1. My 'old' catalog takes 43 seconds. 3 seconds gained ;)

Fine, that's about the trouble ;)

So I went and imported 480 RAW images into the new catalog in order to figure out why importing takes so long suddenly with the latest two C1 releases and hoped for the better .......  It took 27+ minutes to import those 480 picture into C1!

Conclusion: Hm, maybe it wasn't worth the trouble ....

Yes, I am going to send these findings to C1 support too.

    Cheers,

    Andy

I played a little bit with this Problem (I also have with my main catalogue) -> I created a new one and it imported at a normal (old) speed. I thought to reimport my whole main catalogue into a new one.

Yesterday I tried this. I observed the process a little bit. The first import pictures are the normal and old speed. May whole catalog is round about 160k pictures. At a point anywhere around 55k in the importprocess the whole process slows radically down. I abort it at 60k. It seems to be a problems with bigger catalouges with many pictures.
I think we should all write a note to the C1 support because now it is still two realesse (20.1.0 and 20.1.1) And this Problem for me is a total work killer....

Another month gone by without an update..

This is really annoying. Right now I'm importing 1200 20MP files and it takes over an hour.. Can't wait to rate and delete some.. this will take at least another 30-45 minutes.

    This is unworkable!

Another 3 weeks.. still no Update.

Support asked for some details, but i got the same "standard reply"...  "Looking into it, can't promise a fix in a future release..".

This is REALLY annoying. Going on for about 3 months now.

Same to me. Ticket is still open since more than to month. Send details and files, they asked for, got only friendly standard answers. It‘s so disappointing after years to get no solution. Any workflow is destroyed without speed. It make no sense for me to stay with C1.

I was hoping to use Capture One 22, but the import is 30 minutes for 1100 images and the building views is showing 2.5 hours to complete.  I thought the idea of import was to speed up viewing.  The program wont allow me to scroll through my images.  It appears I have to wait for the views to be built.  Photolab 5 does not use the import feature and look directly at the contents of the folder.  No issues with that.  It is really fast to go from oe image to another.  This program must be for people with few images.  I was thinking this was a higher end software package, but it appears to be for light use only.  Oh well.  Looks like support does not answer the questions from many people.
