I admit that it will partly sound silly what I'm asking:

    • Which macOS-Version?
    • Which Capture One 20 version? (At least I could not find a Capture One 20 2 version)
    • Which camera are you trying use with tethering? Is it a (supported) Nikon camera as others cameras won't work with the Nikon version of Capture One

Without more detailed information, it will be impossible to help.

    Hi,

Thanks for looking into my question

    Mac Catalina 10.15.6

It's a Nikon d850, yes it is supported.

I purchased the Nikon capture one version and it doesn't tether or read my camera

But it does tether with the capture one 20.

You say "purchased" but did you get an activation key for the Full Nikon version of the Express version?

    Express does not support tethering.

If you still have the full C1 V20, why to you need the Nikon version?

In you Preferences > Capture settings do you have the option to select which camera manufactures you are using or is that omitted (and so presumably fixed?) for the Nikon only version?

@SFA: I think that the [Nikon] Express-Version is only offered as a special bundle when purchasing selected [Nikon] cameras.

I suppose that the full version was a test version.

    @Carmen:

How did you switch from CO20 Pro to CO20 Nikon? I.e. did you just deactivate the full version and then entered the purchased activation key? Or did you remove the earlier version and then installed the purchased version with its activation key?

Check the following topics, if they solve the problem:

But, keep in mind that Catalina 15.5.6 is not (yet) officially supported.

Btw., There is also another thread about D850 and tethering, which gives some helpful tips: https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360012928538-Capture-One-20-no-D850-or-A7RIV-tethering-

    Ralf,

Anyone can download the Nikon Express version and get an Activation key as far as I am aware.

Express is Free and drops some features that are found in the fuller versions. Plus it is constrained to only working with files from supported Nikon cameras in this case.

SFA, you are right. (The Express-Version was just a bit difficult to find)

Let's see what Carmen answers to the open topics...

    Hi,

    Thanks everyone for helping.

I created a new user profile on my mac and downloaded  capture one nikon, it' works / tethers on this user profile.

When I downloaded the program under the new user Capture one nikon asked several access questions which I said yes to.

I have then tried to download the program again under my normal user and I wasn't asked any access questions at the start. The tethering is not working on this User profile.

I feel that something is restricting / prohibiting access to tethering under my normal user.

If anyone has any ideas it would be great to hear.

    Hi,

could you run the following two commands in a terminal session of your normal user?

    tccutil reset SystemPolicyRemovableVolumes com.captureone.captureone13
    tccutil reset Photos com.captureone.captureone13

Note1: The camera should not be connected and CO should be closed.

Note2: There is no need to download and install CO again. 'captureone13' is the name of the Capture One 20 application.

That should reset the access options and you should be asked again for allowance (see https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002727817#h_b8be74a1-a6c2-4d00-b7e6-def25d8fddd7 )

Otherwise some other hep might be here (even if CO for Nikon is not mentioned, the tips should apply as well)

    https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002381557-Tethering-problems-the-camera-does-not-connect-frequently-disconnects-or-will-not-transfer-images

and also concerning tethering with the D850 and AF:

    Hi,
Thanks everyone for all of your help.
In the end this is what we did to fix it

Ran this under a terminal session

    tccutil reset SystemPolicyRemovableVolumes com.captureone.captureone13
    tccutil reset Photos com.captureone.captureone13

Note1: The camera should not be connected and CO should be closed.

Note2: There is no need to download and install CO again. 'captureone13' is the name of the Capture One 20 application.
