Tokens in Capture One are represented by a grey box surrounding white text. These variables are dynamically updated by Capture One and allow for reduced user input in critical areas such as:
- the Naming tool in the Import dialog
- in the Batch Rename tool
- the Output Naming tool in the Output tool tab
- the Output Location tool in the Output tool tab
- in the Naming tool of the Export dialogue 14.3.0 and forward
- the Format field of the Watermark tool (when the Text option is chosen)
- the Next Capture Naming tool in the Capture tool tab
Let's break down this example:
- The [Destination Folder Name] token will pass the current capture folder's name.
- The static text underscore ("_") is not a token and will stay present.
- The [4 Digit Counter] token will pass the capture counter as a 4 digit number, incrementing with each new capture.
Tokens and their respective values
There are many tokens available in Capture One. Most are available in all areas where Tokens are applicable, however, some might be not applicable. For example, [Destination Folder Name] is not available in a Batch Rename since that function has nothing to do with the capture folder.
Some tokens have close syntax alternatives, which can be accessed by clicking the arrow to the right of the text in the token. For example, the [3 Digit Counter] allows different digit counts, while the date-associated tokens have alternative formats.
NOTE: With the release of Capture One 21 (14.3.0) the tokens Sub Name and Job Name have been removed, as export location and naming are now recipe specific. You can use free text in the Format field.
Job name token is added again in Capture One 21 (14.4.0). This token can be used in Export Naming and enables a shared naming section between recipes.

Document Name is actually the session or catalog name.

In the coding of capture one, tho... capture one document in the code has historically = capture one session/cat. It's synonymous. But if you built integrations, you have to call out Capture Document to automate with sessions/cat.
How do I edit the Copyright token???
For what it's worth, X Digital Counter is NOT an option for Watermarks unless this is an update after Capture One 20 Pro.

thanks a lot for this feature. We would like to use the metadate token (e.g. "IPTC-description") for filling the watermark by text.
If the metadate field stays empty for some of our captures, the token delivers the text "No name" to the watermark modul, is this by purpose?
In our case the intended behaviour would be that for captures with empty metadate field the watermark text should also stay empty.
Is this possible?
