Please note: Any adjustments applied to an image are forward compatible but not backwards.
An image with adjustments made in Capture One 21 can be upgraded to Capture One 22.
If you share an EIP file adjusted in Capture One 22 with someone running Capture One 21, they won't see the adjustments you applied.
It is recommended that you run the same version of the software.
SESSION:
Sessions users can Pack EIP files in two ways.
Either by selecting thumbnails in browser > right click > Pack as EIP.
Another option is to go to the menu File > Export > Export Original Files...
Tick on 'Pack as EIP' and click export.
The original RAW file including adjustments are packed and exported as a single EIP file.
CATALOG:
When sharing EIP files, catalog users can also benefit from EIP export for simplified file sharing of RAW's including settings.
Go to the menu File > Export > Export Original Files...
Tick on 'Pack as EIP' and click export.
Catalog unpacking EIP files:
Although EIP files can be imported into a Catalog, with or without any previous adjustments applied, EIP files cannot be directly unpacked inside a Catalog, however there is a workaround for that. Either first unpack the EIP's in a session or at import choose 'Copy Into Catalog'.
This way the EIP will be unpacked automatically after import.
Remember to check on 'Include Existing Adjustments' in order for the adjustments to come along.
The RAW file will now be unpacked and be located inside the catalog (see What is the difference between a referenced and a managed Catalog?)
If you wish to move the raw file to be referenced to a location outside the catalog, you can simple move it to a system folder location inside the Library tab of Capture One and the image will move from being 'In Catalog' to the chosen folder on disk instead.
Catalog Importing EIP files
In the import dialog choose 'Add to catalog' in order to import the EIP file.
Remember to check on 'Include Existing Adjustments' in order for the EIP to contain the adjustments after import.
