Tools explained

Rating and Tagging -

Tap the highlighted area to bring up a selection of color tags to choose from. Use these to organize or categorize images. For example, Green could mean this is an image you would like to keep.

Tap on the star/s to rate your images accordingly. These will appear as an overlay on the thumbnails in the Browser once changed.

Styles & Presets -

Your Styles and Presets are contained in this tab. See how you can import your Styles and Styles Packs here.

Rotation, Keystone, and Crop -

• Tap on either 'ROTATION' or 'KEYSTONE' to select which tool you'd like to adjust
• Use the dial to the right of the display to adjust rotation/keystone amount
• - rotates your image 90 degrees counter-clockwise
• - allows you to set your aspect crop ratio
• - create a preset (like a Style, but tool-specific)
• - copy adjustments
• - apply adjustments
• - show/hide Filmstrip Browser

B&W, Exposure, White Balance, Clarity, Dehaze, Color Editor and Vignetting - 

• Tap on the tool that you would like to adjust. For example, HDR
• Use the dial on the right of the display to adjust the amount applied - exactly the same as other tools in the application
• The adjustments performed use the same power found in Capture One Pro's editing engine and produce similar effects and results

Tip: tap and hold on the image in the main viewer to see how your images looked before adjusting. Similar to the before/after feature in Capture One Pro.

Sharpening, Noise Reduction, Film Grain and Moire - 

The process for adjusting these settings is the same in the other tools found in Capture One for iPad. Simply tap on the adjustment that you wish to change, then use the dial on the right-hand-side of the display to input the desired values.

How to import Styles

You can import any individual Styles and Styles Packs that you own and use in Capture One Pro to your iPad.

Styles purchased from the store can also be imported directly into Capture One for iPad, for instant editing satisfaction on the go.

Importing Styles

Importing Styles from Mac

Navigate to: Macintosh HD/Users/YourUser/Library/Application Support/Capture One/Styles

N.B. In Finder, select 'Go' in the top menu bar > hold down the Option key > select 'Library' from this list to quickly access the Application Support folder. It's worth keeping this area as a 'Favorite' in Mac OS so that you can quickly find files that make Capture One unique to your workflow.

Select the individual Styles files (.costyle) or Style packs (.costylepack)  (do not select or transfer the folders containing the Styles) from Finder and use Airdrop to send them securely and quickly over to your iPad.

Go back over to your iPad and choose 'Capture One' when asked which application you'd like to open the Styles/Style Packs with.

N.B. If you choose 'Files' when asked what application you'd like to use, save them to the Capture One folder contained on your iPad, as shown below. 

On My iPad > Capture One > Styles

Your Styles will now appear in the Styles menu of Capture One for iPad and are ready to be applied.

Where are the Styles actually located?

The Styles files can be found in Files on your iPad:

If you are sending over Styles using another method such as Mail, iCloud or manually transferring the files over, then you will need to place them in the location shown above and then open them in Capture One - similar to how you import Styles in Capture One Pro.

Importing Styles from Windows

If you are using Capture One Pro on a PC, or your Styles are located on a PC, then your options are more limited.

• Save the Styles and/or Style Packs to a cloud location that is accessible from both your PC and iPad. If you're using iCloud, then your iCloud files will be integrated into your Files app on your iPad. You can also use services such as OneDrive, Dropbox and Google Drive to name a few
  
  
• Using a USB-C flash drive or external disk, you can import Styles from within the Files application on your iPad
  
  
• Send an email containing the Styles or Styles Packs you wish to install and open the attachment on your iPad with Capture One, or transfer it to the location shown above, within the Files application

Fujifilm Simulations

If you have taken RAW photos (must be in RAF format) on a Fujifilm camera that contains Film Simulations, then you will see your images in Capture One for iPad with their film-like effects embedded into the RAW file.

Navigate to the Adjust tool tab which contains settings such as Exposure, White Balance, and HDR.

At the top of this menu, you will see an option called Fujifilm Simulations – if this option is not present, then the camera you are using does not support film simulations, or the image is not in the original RAF format.

Auto describes the default setting – which is either no setting applied, or whatever was used in-camera.

You can then select which Film Simulation you would like to apply from the list.

If you are certain that your camera supports Fuji Film Simulations, and that you have shot in RAF format, ensure that you are using the latest version of Capture One for iPad, as this feature and subsequent behaviour was introduced in 1.1.0.
