Ahh, I got it! I wrongly assumed that the file associations for the raw file type were used. But as AP correctly wrote, it's the Tif file associations. So open any tif from the Windows file Explore...

Probably the screen resolution on your Windows 10 computer is not sufficient. Drag the color editor into the screen, so its floating, and then try open it again.
