Overview
With the release of Capture One 16.4.0 on May 14, 2024, we introduced Capture One Studio and Live for Studio, a desktop app and an iPad companion app for crews working in highly collaborative, studio-like environments.
Capture One Studio is a new tier in our desktop product lineup. It includes all the features of Capture One Pro, introduces new Studio features, and integrates some features that were previously available for Capture One Enterprise users only.
Live for Studio is a new, free iPad companion app designed to complement Capture One Studio on macOS and enhance on-set collaboration. Share folders or albums from Capture One Studio and anyone can view, follow, rate, and color-tag images on an iPad. All on the same local network, no internet required. For details, see About Live for Studio.

Features
Client Viewers
With Client Viewers, you can create up to three additional independent Viewer windows in Capture One Studio for your collaborators without affecting your workflow. There are three Client Viewer modes: pinning an image variant, displaying the primary variant currently selected in Capture One Studio, or display the last image variant captured during tethering.
For details, see Client Viewers (Studio).
AI Crop
AI Crop allows you to automatically align composition across images. It's part of The Crop Tool in Capture One Pro and a dedicated AI Crop Tool with more controls in Capture One Studio.
For details, see AI Crop (Pro, Studio).
Multiple Compare Variants
In Capture One Studio, up to 11 Compare Variants can be shown in the Viewer at the same time.
For details, see Compare Variant (Pro, Studio).
Image Parent Folder Name and Image Grandparent Folder Name Tokens
Image Parent Folder Name and Image Grandparent Folder Name tokens are now available for batch renaming and exporting.
For details, see Tokens and their definitions (Pro, Studio).
Guides Tool
Precisely define the position and color of your guides, and have them follow your crops. Previously available in Capture One Enterprise.

Next Capture Metadata Tool

Previously available in Capture One Enterprise.
For details, see Next Capture Backup Tool (Studio).
Tool Locks
Lock specific Tools so that they cannot be altered by accident during a busy shoot by changing the camera settings or file naming. Assign a pin code to the locking system so that the administrator or photographer in charge can prevent others from unlocking the tools and changing important capture properties. Previously available in Capture One Enterprise.
For details, see Tool Locks (Studio).

Q: Will I be able to switch from Studio to Pro or All in One? What happens to my loyalty program?

Q: Is Live for Studio available for iPhone?
A: Currently Live for Studio is only available as an iPad app. We are hoping to release an iPhone version in Summer 2024. Note the iPad app also works on Apple Silicon Macs.
Q: Are you planning on developing an Android version of Live for Studio?
A: Currently we are not planning for an Android version of the app. If this is something you think we should look into, please let us know on the Capture One ideas portal.
Q: How many devices can I use Live for Studio on?
A: There are no limitations on how many devices can join a session via the Live for Studio app.
Q: Why didn't you include these features in Capture One Pro?
A: We do not believe those features to be relevant for the majority of our users, and as such decided not to complexify our Pro software further with unnecessary tools. Separating our software in two also allows us to be much more intentional about which features we build for which audience, and how to communicate about them going forward. A tool that is trying to be everything for everyone is often not a great tool.
Q: I have a multi-user Capture One Pro license. How do I upgrade to Studio and what’s the cost?
A: You cannot use the same license key and will be required to purchase a Studio license separately. If you want to purchase Capture One Studio for multiple users, you can find more info on this page, whereby you can also reach out to the sales team with any questions.
Q: What is difference between Capture One Enterprise and Capture One Studio for Enterprise?
A: The new Capture One Studio for Enterprise contains all the new studio-exclusive features, as well as two other features, the Barcode Scanner Tool and a multi user access management portal. Capture One Studio for Enterprise also comes with additional services, such as personalised training, priority support and much more.
Q: What is the difference between Pro multi-user and Capture One Studio?
A: Our old Pro multi-user product gave access to the features of Capture One Pro only. Capture One Studio unlocks new exclusive features. Note Capture One Pro multi-user is not available for sale anymore. If you are interested in our products for teams, please visit this page.
Q: Is Studio replacing Enterprise?
A: No. Capture One Studio is a new product. If you are interested in our offers for larger teams, please visit this page.
Q: Can images on a Capture One Live session be viewed with Live for Studio?
A: No. However, the same album or folder can be shared concurrently across both Capture One Live and Live for Studio.
Q: How is Live for Studio different from Capture Pilot?
A: Whilst Capture Pilot and Live for Studio are both designed for private network use, they both cater to different needs within the photography production environment. Capture Pilot is a versatile legacy application that allows photographers and their teams to collaborate, review composition, and remotely control cameras – suitable for both individual photographers and teams. Live for Studio is specifically tailored for large-scale productions, focusing on collaboration with an emphasis on high stability and performance, ensuring seamless integration and workflow in demanding production settings.
Q: What are the future plans for Capture Pilot?
A: We are no longer developing Capture Pilot. However, it will remain available until Capture One mobile and Live for Studio have definitively met our customers' requirements for camera control and collaboration.
