Installing custom camera profiles
Installing ICC profiles for output
Question 1. How to install custom camera profiles?
When working with Sessions, the ICC profile will be included in the settings files located within the image folder. This ensures that you can move the image folder to another computer – and still have all the necessary components available for viewing the images exactly the same way on the other computer.
If you want to use a custom ICC profile on another computer running Capture One, you can manually import the profile as described below.
Paste custom profiles into the Capture One app structure
N.B. Deleting, renaming or moving files other than .icm OR .icc profiles is not recommended and can cause erratic behaviour
Mac
In the Applications folder, right-click on Capture One and select Show Package Contents
Navigate to:
Contents/Frameworks/ImageCore.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Profiles/Input
OR
Contents/Frameworks/ImageProcessing.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Profiles/Input
The naming convention your profiles should follow is: ManufacturerMODEL-Profile Name - if the profiles are not named following this convention, then they will not appear in the application.
For example, if you were making a custom profile for a Sony A7RIV camera, you should name the profile something like: SonyA7RM4-My Custom Profile
If you are running an older version of Capture One, you can find the profiles folder here: Contents/Frameworks/AppCore.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Profiles/Input
Windows
Navigate to C:/Program Files/CaptureOne (or Phase One)/Capture One [version]/Color Profiles/DSLR
2. Restart Capture One and go to Color tool tab -> Base Characteristics -> ICC Profile and press Show All from the dropdown menu. Then click on the dropdown menu again and find your custom ICC profile in the camera model list.
NOTE: If you do not follow the naming convention, the ICC profile will still be available but you will need to select it from Other rather than under the camera name.
Question 2. How to install ICC profiles for printers or specific output?
Mac
1. Unzip the package with the ICC profile
Typically, ICC profiles are usually available in zipped packages so that the file is compressed. Unzip the package by double-clicking on it prior to installing as neither the operating system nor Capture One can parse a zipped ICC profile.
2. Copy the ICC Profile file
Click on the profile file to highlight it, then select Edit -> Copy to copy it.
3. Paste the file to the Profiles directory on macOS
Open Finder, then select Go > Go To Folder.
In the resulting dialog, type "/Library/ColorSync/Profiles" (without quotes).
It is also possible that on your OS version you may need to use the following path: "/Library/ColorSync/Profiles"
Select Edit > Paste Item to insert the previously copied file to the Profiles folder
If you are asked to enter your user name and password, simply enter it and proceed.
4. Restart Capture One
As Capture One parses these folders for usable profiles when launched, it is necessary to re-launch Capture One so that the new profile is visible to the application and the changes take effect. The new profile can now be used as a Proof Profile which can be accessed via View -> Proof Profile.
The same goes for the destination profile for the processed file which is set in Output tool tab -> Process Recipe -> Basic tab or as a printer profile by going to File -> Print... -> Printer -> Color Profile.
If the profile does not appear on the list, make sure that the file is present in the Profiles (macOS) / Color Profiles (Windows) folder.
Windows
1. In general, ICC profiles are available in zipped packages so that the file is compressed. Unzip the package by double-clicking on it prior to installing as neither the operating system nor Capture One can parse a zipped ICC profile. Right-click on the file and select Extract All. Follow the directions to extract the ICC file to the source folder.
2. To install the profile, right-click on the ICC profile file and select Install Profile.
3. The profile is now ready to use in Capture One. Quit and re-launch Capture One. Now you can use it as a destination profile for processed files (via the Process Recipe's Basic tab).
4. You can also use it as a printer profile (in the Print dialog, choose the Color Profile option).

Input profiles in C1 v21 are no longer located as described by the path in this article. Where they are located now is anybody's guess
For anyone making it this far, I found the new location for mac to be here:
Contents/Frameworks/ImageCore.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Profiles/Input
The Import process has never worked, why even mention it? The path to the input profiles folder has changed with the last few releases which has left us using an app like "Find Any File" and searching on a known input profile name and using the latest path returned by the file search. This is not a great situation and it would be nice to see it fixed one day. I would imagine that C1 could be written to also recognize profiles in one of the standard MacOS locations, but maybe this is not so easy.
Nick absolutely true and frustrating. I've always had to do the copy to folder option. Hopefully it's fixed or addressed at some point.
I tried following the instructions in this article method 2.
C1 did not find the icc profile.
Using v21 on Mac
That generally means the costyle is referencing an icc profile in it's code, and it can't find it because it's not in the directory it's attempting to look for it in. (I'm not a capture one support person) I just have experienced that and have edited the code in my own costyles. I also don't expect a capture one support person to reply.
One easy way to get wiser about the profile locations on macOS is to mouse over the profiles already shown in Capture One.
I was trying to find the path to uninstall, but this also works to install.
FOR MAC
Finder Window / Select Go in Toolbar/ Hold down Option (ALT) / Click on Library/ ColorSync/ Profiles

Anyone know where to download missing ICC profiles? I had Fujifilm sims for my x-t1 showing before I reinstalled capture one. Now they are gone.
The Fujifilm Film Simulation profiles that come with Capture One are not available separately to add to an existing installation. Try a clean install of the Capture One app and if that does not help, contact Capture One Support.
