These system requirements are for the latest version of Capture One. If you have an older version of Capture One, you can always refer to the Release Notes Archive.
While Capture One may launch in unsupported environments, including OS and hardware, problems are to be expected and technical support is not offered in such cases.
An internet connection is required to activate all versions of Capture One.
This article contains the following sections:

Minimum System Requirements
macOS Minimum Requirements
- macOS versions from 12.7 to 14.6
- Intel® Core™ i3 (1st generation)
- 8 GB of RAM
- 10 GB of free hard disk space
- Calibrated monitor with 1280x800, 24-bit resolution at 96dpi
- Internet connection to run Capture One Live
Windows minimum requirements
- Windows 10 64-bit (22H2) or Windows 11 (21H2 to 23H2)
- Intel® Core™ i3 (1st generation) / AMD Jaguar family
- 8 GB of RAM
- 10 GB of free hard disk space
- Calibrated monitor with 1280x800, 24-bit resolution at 96dpi
- Internet connection to run Capture One Live
Note: SSE4.2 CPU instruction set is required. Read more about this on Intel's website.
Apple Silicon
All releases from Capture One 21 (14.2.0) onwards provide native support for Apple Silicon Macs. Additionally, Hardware Acceleration on Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3) machines is achieved using Metal – this is now also the case on Intel based Macs, if you are using Capture One 22 (15.3.0) or newer.
Previous versions of Capture One, that have not been designed with silicon based Macs in mind, will still run on Mac computers using the Rosetta 2 emulation platform. This is run by default and there is no need to change any preferences in order for Capture One to run.
The only known limitation when using Rosetta, is when it comes to tethering with Canon cameras. Download and install the latest firmware from https://www.canon-europe.com/support/ to try remedying this issue.
For users on macOS 13 – USB tethering connection sometimes may not be established on Apple Silicon Macs running macOS Ventura. If this occurs, unplug and replug the cable until the connection is successfully established.
Recommended system requirements
If working with high-resolution images and doing calculation-heavy adjustments,
we recommend the following:
- Intel CPU with 4+ cores
- 16+ GB of RAM
- Solid State Disk (SSD)
- NVIDIA or AMD GPU with 8 GB+ RAM
- Calibrated monitor with at least 1920×1200, 24-bit resolution at 96dpi
For users with 4K monitors
Due to the significant additional calculation overhead, systems using 4K monitors will require additional resources in addition to the above-recommended specification, both in GPU and CPU power.
For professional experience, we recommend at least doubling the specification above for these configurations.
Recommended hardware
We often get asked which GPU or CPU we recommend, and the truth is, we cannot recommend specific components as these are consistently being updated and replaced with newer models.
In general, the faster the system, the better.
The more RAM available to the graphics card, the more CUDA cores for Nvidia GPUs and Stream Processors for AMD GPUs, the higher the performance gain.
Running two (or more) GPUs with AMD CrossFire or Nvidia SLI can also improve performance.

Hi Angel Azkune,
Thank you for the comment.
Please, download Capture One 12.1.5 from here - https://account.captureone.com/en/account/download-previous
Then follow the steps 5-13 (for Mac computers) or 5-14 (for Windows computer) from this article - How to update Capture One?
I cannot log out and cannot pay the subscription
Zmieniłem komputer. Poprzedni uległ zniszczeniu, a tam miałem zainstalowany Capture One Pro 10 z wieczystą licencją. W jaki sposób mogę zainstalować ten sam program na nowym komputerze, tzw składaku?
pozdrawiam Wojtek
Hi Wojteck,
Thank you for your question.
You need to download and install Capture One on your new computer. Please, refer to these pages -
Afterwards, log in to your account on the captureone.com website and go to the Manage licenses section. There you will find the license key for your Capture One Pro 10 perpetual license which you can use to activate software. Please, refer to this article:
Hello Lily,
I neither use Windows or MacOS. I use Chrome OS and Linux.
Are there any plans to support other operating systems or – even better – to bring Capture One to the cloud?
Thank you for your answer,
Florian
Hello,
I'm still waiting for a Linux version. Until then, I will continue using other (very good) application.
Inform me when you are ready.

Hello,
Thank you for the comment.
You can download the previous version of Capture One from here - https://account.captureone.com/en/account/download-previous
Hello!
Why in "Recommended system requirements" you are requesting an Intel processor only? What's wrong with AMDs?
It says "recommended" , not "only". A nuance, but still. It runs fine on AMD, at least for me! YMMV.
Hello!, I bought Capture One 22 for Sony and my Mac is from 2011, I cannot system update, my Mac so its still on MAC SIERRA 10.13.6. Then am I not going to be able to use it? Is there a way i can have the benefits and styles of Capture one 22?.
Thanks.
Hi Cristina,
Thanks for your comment.
I have converted your request to a support request. The Support Team will get back to you via the ticket soon.
Hi, what are the recommended system requirements for M1 family of Macs?
Hi, after testing a lot Capture One Pro 22 a few month now on my MacBook Pro 14 with 16GB RAM, I have to say minimum should be 16MB and recommended size should be 32+, if you want to avoid this extensive memory swapping on a M1 Mac.
Is CaptureOne 23 compatible with OS 13.0 Ventura?
Maybe it's worth mentioning here as well that C1 requires .Net Desktop Runtime 6.x. You should have it installed by yourself, because the installer or app runner won't download it, as you might think:
Hello,
Where are the links for older versions? Every 3 months is new version? Guys, calm down. Very user friendly when talking about operating system versions.

CAPTURE ONE
ARE YOU CRAZY... Capture 23 apparently requires a new Apple Hardware purchase that is totally irresponsible.. I'm wondering how others are feeling? My studio has investment in very high level Mac system components running on a Mac Pro Tower.. anf all is running fine. Capture One you need to come clean on why Capture 23 is only available for recent versions of MacOS. I understand that Capture One utilizes GPU centric code were many Graphics cards should will support.. What are the hardware limitations that require a Mac hardware upgrade. If this is in fact the only option? unfortunately I again will need to dump subscriptions for future releases of Capture One until the time comes when my Mac die.. I thought when jumping to Capture One that there was a clear commitment to photographers and in fact Capture One is the best.. Is it possible to offer two builds of Capture 23 without the hardware specifics that Mac is forcing on you?
FILE ACCESS Windows 11 22H2 potential issues
Hello,
I have had some file access issues with latest CO 23 (16.0.2) update (and probably related to earlier versions too) linked to my Win 11-64 22H2 version and the settings of "Windows Security & Controlled Folders".
I had to add "CaptureOne.exe, ImgCoreProcess.exe and MPCoreTool.exe" to my "Allow an app through Controlled Folder Access" in the "OS - Settings - Virus and threat protection settings - Controlled Folder access".
So if some of your photo and/or data files are located into your Win OS "Protected Area", then CO23 does not work or get jammed and basically you need to "kill" the application, and your DB might get into an unstable state.
But once the "exe" are allowed it sems to work OK :)
It could be nice to know if you list all CO23 exe files that should have "full access" too, and/or that you propose or check this during installation.
Thank's for your support
Sincerely,
Ivar
Hello,
After I updated my Mac to macOS Ventura 13.2 my CaptureOne started bugging, some buttons are not active and after a bit of time the became active and then back to not active again. Before I had macOS Monterey 12.6 and everything was working perfectly. Now I cannot use normal my CaptureOne. What should I do?
Will wait for your support,
Thank you
Edvinas P.
On Windows I installed CaptureOne express. Entered the activation key. Activated the account. But the program said "an error has occurred" and when I try "Let's get started" again, it says "An error has occurred, please try again later." Later, same result.
Now it says activation successful, but the program always asks for the key, then quits with no error after I put it in. So can't actually use it.
Hope you can help? Thanks
PS: Now getting same kind of errors as first time.
hey I've be having a hard time with my subscription. I've paid for my subscription and now it's not allow back on the the program. I've redownloaded that software and it still say inactive? And the money has been taken out of my account.
Hi,
I cannot find the fully relevant part to ask this, but from the time I have upgraded to the latest captureOne Pro on my MacBook Pro (2021) I have been having issues with importing images.
What happens: I puy my SD card and can see the images in the Import Images window, but when I press the Import button nothing happens.
Please help
I need some help with the program. Yet, I am sorry you asked for an evaluation. I have the newest OS (Windows 11) on a new Lenovo Surface Pro. I use an older Olympus E-1 DSLR with Zuiko lenses in some studio settings. I am computer and DSLR literate. I have extensively tried to get the program to locate my camera. And it won't find it! On the other hand, I use my old Windows XP and the original Olympus Studio, then there is no problem, except it's slow. Unfortunately, the program won't work on a Windows 11 system. As advertised, Capture One might work except it has fewer functions than the old Oly Studio dependable. That is all I have noticed to evaluate so far. But I may be able to live without them as soon as the new program becomes available to my Oly E-1 as it is presently advertised to do.
I was wondering about the iPad requirements. What generation and model is required ? Maybe there is an article on this but I haven't seen it so I found myself here! Thanks.
Dear Sir/Madam
I have an licence key that i purchased and updated to version 22 on my windows laptop and i want to upload Capture one to my Macbook pro but it does not recognize the licence key .
Regards,
Ken Phelan
I hope they give you an answer. I have Cap 1, and it can't find my camera. It's an Olympus E-1 DSLR I use for some special projects. I have the original Olympus Studio software, and it works fine if I can keep it in a Windows XP environment. But use a Mac or Windows 7 come 11 and it's a rigged to be a bad bet that won't work. OM bought the software and they trimmed it down. It doesn't have the same functions available as the original studio tethering. I complained but they haven't gotten back. So, I am ignoring them until it goes away.
