Capture One 12 introduces the concept of Plugins that can greatly expand the possibilities to edit your images. Plugins come in two main flavors: Plugins will enable you to publish images directly an online photo gallery solution or to social media, plugins that will let you edit or open images with specialized image adjustments, like the Helicon Focus plugin.
The Edit With and Open With commands have been made plugin-aware in Capture One 12, which means that you activate an installed edit-based plugin simply by selecting Image -> Edit With -> Plugin or Image -> Open With -> Plugin.
You will now be presented with a number of adjustment options that are specific to the installed plugin. Please visit the plugin vendor’s website for instructions on how to use these settings. You might also get the familiar Basic, Adjustments and Metadata settings that are a part of Capture One’s normal Edit With functionality.
Please see the section Process RAW files and export to Helicon Focus here to learn how to use the Helicon Focus plugin.
Note that you do not need to use any plugins to edit the image in an external application, you can still just select Image -> Edit With -> Photoshop to edit an image in Photoshop. You will then only use Capture One’s Basic, Adjustments, and Metadata settings to convert the file(s).
