Capture One allows you to directly edit the capture time of a single image, or a batch of them, ensuring that your images are at the best starting point for organizing and culling. This affects the EXIF data of your images, directly modifying and changing the time of which the image was captured.
This feature is available in Capture One Pro 23 (16.0) and later.
How do you change the capture time of an image?
- In the Library tool tab, scroll down to Metadata
- Under 'Basic' you will see the date/time your image was captured or created on
3. Click ... to begin modifying the capture time
Image name - the name of the image you are editing, shown here as "RB Austria 002.IIQ"
Capture Time - displays the current capture time
New Time - this is where you enter the desired capture time
N.B. When a single image is selected, then the exact time is set. A time offset will be applied (based on the primary variant) when multiple images are selected.
If you are changing the capture time of multiple images, ensure that you have Edit All Selected Variants enabled under Image > Edit All Selected Variants – this will ensure that all of the images you have selected, will be affected when selecting "Change Capture Time".
The tool will let you know what the adjusted capture time will be. Select Update All to change the capture time of the selected image, or all images that you have selected.
You can also access the Change Capture Time dialog by right/option-clicking on an image in the Browser or Viewer and selecting Change Capture Time.
Regarding XMP and metadata syncing
The XMP sidecar file remains unaffected. The modified capture time will appear in Capture One and in the exported file, but not in other software when working with the original RAW file.

Hey guys,
Is there a way to adjust capture time across multiple files by a set duration of time? For example if I want to add 1 hour to a bunch of files, rather than change them all to one time?
For example if I've shot a whole bunch of things without adjusting for day light savings time etc?
Thanks
kristoffer paulsen Hi Kristoffer, this is possible.
First of all, make sure you have Edit All Selected Variants ticked under the "Image" option in the top menu bar.
Highlight the images you wish to change the capture time of, by selecting them individually or using Ctrl/Cmd+A, right-click and then select "Change Capture Time" - if you adjust the capture time by 1 hour, then the rest of the images you have selected will also be adjusted by an hour.
Hi, is this feature available in "Capture One 23 Express (for Sony)" - build 16.2.2.10? I'm able to edit the date under metadata, but the exported image still shows the original camera date.
Is it possible to view/edit the timezone of the files?
