Well if you honestly believe that Capture One are just "sitting on their hands" there is probably nothing I can say to make you think differently, except that I don't believe that they are.

I do not want to make this thread toxic,

just adding information: current ON1 Photo RAW also has A7Cm2 uncompressed RAW support.

So does Affinity Pro, current version.

would need the support of Sony A7Cii also....

Would appreciate at least an update on progress made since the initial *in the works* response from C1. Other cameras have had day one support and here we are still waiting.

  • Raymond Lou

I echo some of the above frustration. It is somewhat not believable that a major studio like C1 is not supporting a camera because they can't get their hands on it, but what is even more unbelievable is that there has only been 1 response from the C1 team during the last couple of months. Not even an attempt to appease its customers or provide further explanations.

And this is not an obscure camera - the A7CII and A7CR are probably one of the better selling new cameras.

Ian - I think we all respect your volunteering work on these forums, but I think where you can potentially add value is to escalate this with the C1 work team. No one is blaming you personally but we would be most grateful for an official response, and we are hoping you can provide that communication bridge. I'm sure all of us are watching both threads with anticipated breadth....

Raymond Lou I do my best to provide up to date information and explain things in as much detail as I can. Fact is, there's been very little to update you all on.

We will have the camera in our hands soon and will begin implementing support as a high priority. There's not much more I can say than that, I'm afraid.

Thank you to everyone in this thread for your patience. I wish I could provide more information.

Hey Jack W! Could you please elaborate on why you don’t have the camera? It’s not in short supply. Are you waiting on a loaner from Sony?

    Admin

John Valentine I'm not going to go into specifics on why we don't have the camera as that won't help anybody.

What I can tell you is that as of today, we do in fact have the camera in house.

So you can expect file + tethering support to follow shortly.

Thank you for sharing the information. There is now a Black Friday offer and we would like to take advantage of the offer. Can you tell us if support for the camera will be free in the next update? or No, because if the support will be free, we will update and take advantage of the offer.

  • Raymond Lou

Jack W That's great to hear - appreciate the update and it would be great to get native support!

In the meanwhile I'll continue to use exiftool to masquerade the ARW files as A7m4....

Thank you for deleting my post, apparently people don't like mentioning competing products, especially when products are mentioned that are already further along than CP.

In this respect, just a note: DxO has fixed the errors that prevented the cameras in question from receiving RAW support, With today's update, RAW is now fully supported.

It's a shame, but CP is out of the running since the trial subscription is useless anyway.

Heinz Müller You're free to mention whatever products you want, providing it's not spammy and self promotion. I haven't deleted any of your posts and would never do so out of censorship.

Mohamed albassam Considering we only received the camera yesterday, I have no idea about timeline for implementation, or which version this will arrive in. I would hate to say something now that will later come back to bite me on the backside.

Jack, I really appreciate, that you keep us updated now! Please continue posting updates on your progress until we will finally get our A7CII supported in C1! Thanks!

The truth is that such an interesting program is very disappointing with this policy they have. You pay for a permanent license and have to pay again simply because they don't support new cameras. Why can't they allow you to work with new cameras if you don't need to buy a new license again? Disappointing. Losing clients.

    another question

Will the version that can now be purchased (16.3.0.76) include support for the A7CII? Or will you have to buy another one later?

Please hurry Sony a7c II support!!!!

'current' version 16.3.1.1718 does NOT have A7Cm2 support.

Fail to understand why the included RAW EXIF Metadata cannot be used in a 'normal' way..

I don't really understand the whole problem either. Obviously CaptureOne decides primarily on the basis of the model in the EXIF. If you change this to ILCE-7M4, the loading process works and you can edit the image.
I'm a software developer myself and I don't understand the problem from that point of view either. There must be a simple mapping somewhere where model and loader are linked. If I, as a developer, had to change the code every time because of "such a small thing", then that would really annoy me.
So from my point of view, it would be nice if the development team would give it some thought and explain the problem to us.

It feels very bad that by buying a new camera you see that you cannot edit the photos simply because you do not support them or because they want to force you to pay again for a license.

That says very little and very badly about a company.

I would even consider buying a new permanent license with 50% now, but how do I know if what I buy will support the A7C II once it is supported and comes in a new version that has to be purchased?

I have CO 20 and I cannot edit the ZV-E10, I see that the current version does.

What version of CO will the A7C II be compatible with?

    Buy for what?

    Buenos dias y saludos a todos/as.

    Folks, calm down.

Yes it is a pain that C1 takes so long to add a not insignificant Sony camera model to its supported portfolio.

Yes with the current policy it is a big question mark whether if you buy a license this week, the support for the A7C II will still come before a new major release to be paid for comes along.

Yes it feels like you are heavily pushed into the subscription model to avoid this.

This a dangerous game to play for C1, with LR/PS being much cheaper per month as of today. The risk of users switching to Adobe is not zero, especially those that originally went to C1 exactly because of the possibiliy to buy yearly licenses as desired. It may even indicate a financially not so sound situation also.

But: Other SW also requires new updates to support new camera models. And while hacking the EXIF does work, it is unclear whether the exact implementation of the color rendering is really identical to the 7/4 model.

Work is in progress, so I hope and wait.

jose saez I can't give you an an answer on what version support will be included in, sorry. My hope and expectation is that it will be part of 16.3.x – but that's not a promise.

The only thing I can tell you to do right now is await support. In all honesty, it's good practice to check that the software you're using supports the hardware you have invested in.

All of our supported cameras are listed here and in the release notes that can be looked at before purchasing.

Little can be said, to be able to use C1 you have to wait many months until a new camera is compatible before buying a permanent license again.

It's strange how CP lets its users down here and reinforces their insecurities with vague statements. It is now clear to everyone that it is taking far too long and that the support will come "at some point", one could look at it positively and see it as a small ray of hope - but no clear statement is made to paying and waiting customers, "yes the current version "gets an update without incurring any further costs" is an underground behavior and then puts the negative crown on the whole thing.

You claim to be a partner of professionals who offer professional software, but what just happened here has nothing to do with professionalism. Currently you are the only one of the major providers on the market who do not yet offer support. Looking at it soberly, for this reason and your vague statements, I can only advise you to pay attention to the competition at the moment because you can now work with it and the costs for it are also clearly regulated.

Well, now we're ready to express ourselves. I would like the reason for wanting to buy a higher version to be because of the attractiveness of new features for which I would be happy to pay again. The unfortunate thing is that it is simply because I won't be able to use it if I renew my equipment. I'm still using C1 because I'm still on A7RIV with version 20. I don't like feeling obligated to simply pay for my new 7C II because it's not compatible instead of because I'm excited to upgrade. That reflects many things about C1 company.

Heinz Müller We can perhaps look into providing basic preliminary support next time and learn from this. I don't think this is common practice from us and I do not expect it to happen again.

If the delay in supporting this camera has affected you in any way, then let us know.

I'm also simply commenting on a topic with as much information as I can provide, sorry if it comes across as vague.
