I have tried to activate Capture One with a license code on my new computer and I get the error "Activation Limit Exceeded". What does that mean?
This error message appears when you have already reached the limit of available activations per your license.
The number of available activations depends on the type of license
NOTE: If you have purchased the license before, the number of activations will be the same for you as at the time you purchased the license.
NOTE: New users who purchase Capture One 20 + 21 starting from November 17, 2020, will receive the Capture One 21 license key which can activate Capture One 20 as well. Thus, the number of available activations will correspond to Capture One 21.
Capture One Pro perpetual license
- Capture One 21 and later versions - 2 activations
- Capture One 10-20 - 3 activations
- Capture One 6-9 - 2 activations
Capture One Pro subscription
- The license key purchased after November 17, 2020 - 2 activations
- The license key purchased between November 2018 and November 2020 - 3 activations
- The license key purchased before November 2018 - 2 activations
Brand version perpetual license
Capture One 21 and previous versions - 2 activations.
Brand version subscription
Capture One Fujifilm / (for Sony) / for Nikon 21 and earlier versions - 2 activations.
Capture One Express Sony / Fujifilm
Starting from Capture One 20, a license key is required to activate Capture One Express. Each license provides only 1 available activation.

Deactivating Capture One
Each machine produces a unique identification number on our servers. Therefore, when a new machine is purchased, the operating system is reinstalled, the hard drive is rebuilt, or other major hardware changes occur, your computer can be identified as NEW in our database. This creates a need for re-activation.
To solve this issue effectively, you have to deactivate the software either from a computer or remotely on the website.
